An MSPaint ABC: Lucky Number Thirteen Dream Match Never Ends!

Anyone who wants to compete just has to PM an avatar to me by Monday Night, 04/09/2007. The voting will begin on the following morning. That gives you over 2 weeks to come up with an entry. Once I’ve collected all the avatars, I’ll post them, and the judges will choose their 3 favorites each, and rank them 1, 2, 3. Scores will be tallied, and the winners will receive prizes.

1: It must be a new avatar. Do not PM me an avatar that people have already seen, or you will be disqualified. This means that you are not allowed to show the avatar around before the battle starts in a week. They should all be unveiled simultaneously at the start of the comp. (Because there was a problem with kensavenge at one time, I guess I have to clarify? Only submit your own work. That means an avatar that YOU MADE!

2: No artists are allowed to reveal to anyone which avatar is theirs. Any artists caught leaking such information will be disqualified. Of course, some styles are recognizable, so some judge recognition is inevitable. You may bounce ideas off of someone, but please do not make the avatar public until I unveil them.

3: No one is allowed to wear an avatar that has been submitted in the competition until AFTER the voting is completed.

4: One avatar per category per artist, please. This means you can each enter one still avatar, and one animated avatar. Minor animation may be accepted in a still avatar, but it’s completely at my discretion.

5: The avatar must be within premium-size requirements. That means the maximum size is 160 x 100 and under 50 kb. Feel free to make anything smaller than the max if you like.

6: No pornography or innapropriate material. You guys know this…(Swearing is A-Ok!)

7: You can submit as many times as you like. That means if you submit an avatar on Saturday, and then change your mind and decide to submit a different one on Monday, go right ahead. You can make revisions, changes, or just enter a completely different avatar. I’ll use whatever one you send me last. Just make sure you have your final submission in to me before the deadline.

Master Chibi

Judging will be the same as in the past., **If you would like to judge,

MSPaint - Your av must be done in MSPaint style. Of course you don’t have to use the mspaint program (how could I tell anyway) but if I see any techniques that cannot be done in mspaint, you entry will be disqualified. There WILL be an animated category as usual, but animations are restricted to 3 frames only.

No copy/paste. You get a blank canvas, and all the tools of mspaint.

No transparencies/dither/antialised text, etc.

No pallette limitations. You get any colors you want.

As always, here are links to the judging threads of all of the previous battles:
ABC #12 - T and A, and S R K
ABC #11 - Retro
ABC X - Fuckachunkz/Guilty Gear/Technology
ABC #9 - Time
ABC #8 - Rock n’ Roll
ABC #7 - Food
ABC #6 - Weapons (w/ a Soul Calibur Bonus)
ABC #5 - Street Fighter
ABC #4 - Darkstalkers
ABC #3 - Sprite Commercials
ABC #2 - Booty/Boobies, Sprites, & SRK
ABC #1 - Trial & Error

P.S.: Just a reminder since it’s been a while: DO NOT POST YOUR ENTRIES IN THIS THREAD. PM THEM TO ME AND SHOW NO ONE ELSE.

I was thinking the ENTIRE thing should be mspaint, text, borders, all of it.

I’m considering that. What do others think?

Also, what about animations then?

it’s funny how a “lol” can change things.

Animations can’t be more then 2-3 frames.

Ok, we’ll go with that.

That means you all have a shot at robbing me this time, since I can’t do any more with 3 frames of mspaint-only than a gerbil.

EDIT: rules edited.

i was gonna say 4 frames cuz the animation would’nt loop right.

not like it mattered or anything… 3 frames it is.

how do you animate MSpaint?

In ImageReady or Gimp.

I’m in, this is gonna be FUN!

Going beast this in school.

I’m not sure how to create a canvas with premium specifications in MSPaint like I can in photoshop…

go to image/ attributes/ pixels. 160 x 100.

only 3 frames?aww so much for my animated tour de force.but i’ll enter :stuck_out_tongue:

i’ll see what i can do for this :7)

hmm… personally, i think it should all be done with paint only. eg. if there’s any sort of rendering, blending, etc… then it’s quite obvious it wasn’t done in paint.

oOOH, how about we also limit the colors as well quiche?

Just the colors the rainbow?

Indigo (what the fuck color is indigo)

And white and black too~

Their should be a GIMP only ABC too.

All you can use is brushes and patterns.

For Reals.

Seriously. Quiche, i’ve seen your idea of a "MSPAINT’ av before.

Quiche: “Well, see that one line there… almost covered by the other lines? Yeah, that was in MSPaint, everything else is done by photoshop, imageready, illustrator, BUT IT’S STILL A MSPAINT AV!”

IMO for the stills, the rules should be you have to open a blank MSPAINT canvas and work wit h that. Of course, you are allowed to paste stuff like sprites etc. But you can’t paste renders and backgrounds done in other programs.

that works. canadian has the right idea.
