Any difference between the Qanba Q4RAF vs Madcatz TE

#1

besides the obvious ones like size and dual mod. Ive heard the sticks itself are slightly different.
ie, “the qanba stick feels tighter”

personally i own a TE and am interested in buying a qanba for its dual mod

anyone who has experience in these let me know.

thanks

The actual parts are identical, they use the same buttons and stick. There can be slight differences between one JLF stick and another (spring, usage) but they should both feel the same in that regard.

The main difference I find is that the Qanba is slightly wider making it a little more comfortable, but it’s all down to preference. I prefer the way the Qanba feels but still like the TEs as well.

ah ok, cuz i wasnt sure when i googled it.
the parts for the stick seem to be.

qanba = JLF-TP-8YT-SK
madcatz = JLF-TP-8Y-SK-W

wasnt sure what the T (in 8YT) in the qanba was, could u clear it up for me?
as for the madcatz one i think W is white

#4

They’re both using JLF-TP-8YT-SK. The W stands for white ball top.

The JLF-TP-8Y-SK-W doesn’t have a mounting plate, that’s definitely not the one in a TE.

#5

mm u might be right there.

this is where i got my info from

#6

That guy has just used the wrong code. It’s definitely a JLF-TP-8YT-SK. I’ve swapped the joysticks on these things a fair bit :slight_smile:

#7

ok thanks for clearing it up.

is there anything is should know about the qanba before i commit to buying one?
or anything that it lacks or excells at compared to the TE’s?

#8

Lacks nothing. Excels at everything.

#9

The Qanbas really are great pieces of kit, no reason not to get one!

#10

what did u swap it to? and why

#11

I swapped the JLF in my Qanba with an older one I had as it was a little more worn in. All JLFs “wear in” over time meaning they get a little looser. Some like em looser some like em stiffer. (That’s what she said)
