Asuka general overview/potential, options and more!

Hello guys, I’m going to start a little project of mine, the name/purpose of course It’ll remain a secret, for now. However I’d like the help of the community on this. I’ll need some information about the character, I’m do this for every character in the game except Toro/Kuro/Cole/Megaman, so I’ll ask a few questions to gather what I need. I’m doing this but I won’t be a slacker, as in, I’ll be searching every thread to look for what I need, but since some threads aren’t updated in a while, this would be helpful to me and for the community, 'cause the information would be updated.

When giving the information asked try to be specific and clear, regarding inputs and etc, and if you want I’ll gather the values, so you guys won’t need to worry about that. The ideia is to get a general overview of the characters options and potential, I’m talking about hitconfirms, setups and etc.

Welp, lets get right into it shall we?

Strong points

  • Excellent damage both meterless and metered.
  • Excellent oki on opponents wakeup (you want to wakeup reversal? excuse me while I low-profile/f+lk/counter it… now eat this overhead/low/crossup for 400 dmg.).
  • With multiple cancelable strings and hit-confirms, Asuka really never needs to be worse than -1.
  • Counter as a meterless reversal, active on first frame and works against all non-airborne attacks other than EX’s and Supers/CA’s.
  • Meter reversal option that leads to 360+ damage, 14 of invulnerbility (until startup).
  • Command grab (non-ex only grabs standing, ex grabs both standing/crouching).
  • Command normal AA with 9 frames of air-crush (until startup) that leads to 360+ damage.
  • At least two specials that are safe tags on block (double lift kicks and onikubigari).
  • Can set up ground-bounce, wall-bounce, juggles and standing tags with little effort.

Weak Points

  • Her footsies are weaksauce (slow startup on anything with range).
  • Most of her options at range are easily AC’d as they are multiple hits and she must commit to them or get punished.
  • Her tool to get around projectiles (exorcisor) has a fairly small window of projectile invulnerbility unless you use the EX.
  • Her offense and defense are both highly reliant on making the correct reads and understanding your opponents options. You can not scumbag with this character, she forces you to play honest.

Asuka can do well with any partner, but due to her comparitively bad neutral game she is primarily an anchor character. Her best partners are characters who can get her where she wants to be (right in the opponents face) while providing her with some meter incase things go south and she needs to get out safely.

    • Asuka can boost her lp/lk into mp, and then chain back to lp/lk. This enables her to do crazy long confirms(7 hits), but ruin her damage in the process
