Challenge - name all 62 versions of Street Fighter

#1

On kotaku today they have a list of the top franchises for Capcom and how many titles in the series:

Resident Evil - 40 million (56)
Mega Man - 28 million (124!)
Street Fighter - 27 million (62)
Devil May Cry - 10 million (11)
etc.

62 versions of Street Fighter??! Seriously - can we come up with all 62? I’m curious.

I seriously doubt there are 62, unless we’re talking EVERY arcade and console version.
All I can think of are:
SF1
SF2
SF2:CE
SFA1
SFA2
SFA2Gold
SFA3
SF3
SF3:DI
SF3:TS
SF4

#3

tsk tsk for not even mentioning super turbo

#4

11 versions of Devil May Cry?
Kotaku has lost their minds…

#5

I’m at 30, and I haven’t looked hard:

fighting street
sf2010
street fighter 2
street fighter 2 hf
SF2 Turbo
Street Fighter II’: Special Champion Edition (Genesis)
Street Fighter Anniversary Collection
Capcom Classics Collection Vol. 1
Capcom Classics Collection Vol. 2
street fighter 2 ce
super street fighter 2
ssf2t
Hyper SF2
sfa
SFA (GBC)
sfa2
sfz2a
SFA2Gold/SFZ2dash
SFA anthology
Street Fighter Zero: Fighters’ Generation
sfa3
street Fighter Alpha 3: Saikyo Dojo
Street Fighter Alpha 3 for GBA
Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX PSP
sfa3u
sf3
sf3:2i
sf3:3s
sf4
puzzle fighter

EDIT:
not sure if CvS1 and CvS2 count, or if the VS games count

#6

Ex series and “The Movie” game.

#7

Think they may be counting the VS. series as SF…?

#8

The # wasn’t made up by Kotaku - it’s based on sales. And I can come up with more than 11 without thinking hard about it:

DMC1 (US, JPN, Pal) = 3
DMC2 (US, JPN, Pal) = 3
DMC3 ?
DMC3 special edition ?
DMC4 360 (US, JPN, Pal) 3
DMC4 PS3 (US, JPN, Pal) 3

DMC3 gets weird as it had more than 1 version. This isn’t counting greatest hits in all the territories either.

This is going to be harder than I thought.

#9

Would EX count though, since it was developed by Arika?

The topic is a bit vague .

#10

So it basically counts by region and console…then SF wouldn’t be too hard.

#11

i think dmc includes pc versions

#12

Hrm - not so sure.

DMC1 + Greatest Hits = 2
DMC2 + Greatest Hits = 2
DMC3 + GH = 2
DMC4 = 2 (360 +PS3)

Thats 8 right there.

Add in the weird collection packs that they did - I can see that being 3 more.

Maybe it’s not all the regions.

#13

It probably wouldn’t be by region… I mean there are more then 11 different releases by region of the first DMC game alone:

You guys are forgetting the Atari version of World Warrior. No joke, it exists, my friend had it and I played it and I can’t believe there are no videos out there ridiculing that mess.

EDIT: I just did a search for the Atari version and found this:

So that’s 6 more versions right there (including the Atari version and excluding SNES which already has been counted)

#17

You didn’t count arcade versions? That would include Zero 2 Alpha and SFA3 Upper as well.

#18
  • the one for Cellphones = 62, but if ocunting the vs and crossovers,is missing namco vs capcom, pocket fighter, puzzle fighter so maybe no crossovers and just add Arcade versions of each one so far.

#19

Looking at your list, I saw you pretty much got it. The final game may be SF2 for the NES. Actually, I guess that might be an unofficial version…

#20

Perhaps the list is also counting alternate versions of Arcade releases? ST US, World, Asia, Japan etc.?

Good job, but you missed a few arcade releases. I already mentioned Zero 2 Alpha and SFA3 Upper. Then there is EX+, EX+ Alpha and EX2+. All of theses are different arcade versions.
