Clash Of Brokenness! IV Battle of Truthiness! (April 25th) Chicago, Illinois

#1

Ok this is the 4th one in the series.

**I know this has not been posted here, that is my bad. I also know there are other tournaments going on on this day. That is fine. For those that can’t make it to the other tournaments and still want to play and live in the City, you can show up to this one.

We will only be using all Tube and CRT TVs and the Projector. The HD TVs will not be used in this tournament. I will be using a Splitter for the Projector so everyone can watch the Finals of all the tournaments on the Projector without the players having to worry about lag.

Hope to see some of you guys there. For everyone that can’t make it but are going to other tournaments, I wish you the best of luck in those other tournaments. ^_^**

Tournament Games and Rules!

Super Smash Brothers Brawl Singles/Doubles on Nintendo Wii System (Championship Series Points will be Earned)

**Doubles will be run in a double elimination bracket.

Singles will first have pools, followed by a 32-person bracket. Points nor previous placement will guarantee you placement into the bracket.**

Rules

* 3 Stock.
* 8 Minutes.
* Best 2/3 Matches.
* All Finals Best 3/5 Matches.
* Team Attack ON (Doubles).
* Life Stealing Allowed (Doubles).
* Items are set to "off" and "none."
* In the event of a dispute, controller ports will be selected by Rock-Paper-Scissors.
* In team matches, the ports will be determined in a 1221 fashion; whoever wins the RPS will choose first, then the opposing team will get their ports, and then the teammate of the RPS winner will get the last port.
* If the timer runs out, the victor is determined first by stock and then by percentage. NO SUDDEN DEATH WILL BE PLAYED OUT.
* Metaknight's Infinite Cape glitch is banned.
* King Dedede's standing infinite and walking/nudging chain grabs will be banned. Any chain grab done with King Dedede MUST include a dash between each grab. Standing infinites include: the no-wall infinites on Samus, Mario, Luigi, and Donkey Kong; the ledge infinite on King Dedede, Bowser, Wolf, etc; the walking nudging chain grab on Wario, Ganondorf, Wolf, Bowser, etc. Any chain grabs done in place on moving platforms or against a wall are legal, as these are only temporary stage-specific occurrences and no legal stages have permanent walls. This rule does not prohibit any form of grab release set ups, combos, infinites, etc.
***Suicide Move Rules: (all situations are when both players are at 1 stock)

*(A)If a player successfully ends the match with either Bowser or Ganondorf’s over B attack by suicide, then the player who initiated the move MUST have the advantage in Percentage to win.
*(B)If a player ends the match by swallowing with Kirby or DDD and falling off the stage and the game counts it as a tie, the player who initiated the swallow move MUST have the advantage in Percentage to win. If the player who was swallowed is shown as winning the match (in the instance the broke out right before they died which some people might not notice), then they win.

  • In both cases, if the person Initiating the Suicide Move is Losing in Percentage, that person Loses the Match.**
    • You are responsible for your own controller and name tag. Any malfunctions or errors that occur are your responsibility, so bring an extra controller if possible and always check to make sure you’re using the correct settings BEFORE a match is played. If a match is to be restarted due to controller functions, it must be agreed upon by both parties.
    • Any action that can prevent the game from continuing (i.e., freezing, disappearing characters, game reset, etc.) will result in a forfeit of that match for the player that initiated the action. You are responsible for knowing your own character, and must be wary about accidentally triggering one of these effects.
    • Stalling is banned. Stalling: The act of deliberately avoiding any and all conflict so that one may make the game unplayable. Running away from an opponent to reach a better position is not stalling, while doing an infinite grab endlessly against a wall is. Any infinite chain grabs most end quickly after 300% has been reached so as to prevent excessive stalling. If there is an issue, pause the game and call a TO over to screen the match.
    • If you use any controller styles that use the wiimote you will be responsible for removing the batteries in between your matches. Failure to do so can result in a DQ.

Set format:

  1. Opponents choose their characters for the first match *
  2. Opponents start the stage striking procedure. (This will be where a coin is flipped to see who strikes first. Then each player will alternate striking a stage until there is 1 left. That stage is played first round. THERE IS NO RANDOM UNLESS AGREED UPON)
  3. Each player may announce one stage to be banned for counter picks of the set
  4. The first game is played, using the stage chosen during step 2
  5. The loser of the previous match announces the next match’s stage from either the Starter Stage List or the Counter Stage List
  6. The winner of the previous match chooses their character
  7. The loser of the previous match chooses their character
  8. Repeat steps 5-7 for all proceeding matches
    *Double blind character selection may be called for the first match

#3

Be on my team Kelvin!!!

#4

Fail date.org

  1. Chicago Biweekly is on the SAME date.

  2. Iowa DBQ BBQ is on the SAME date.

  3. Its my birthday so I probably cant come.

Edit:

Holy shit, the bar Im gonna go to for my bday is like less than 3 miles away (the double door) so I can probly come to this.

Who wants to team up for the 2 on 2 SF4 cause thats all I could probably stay for.

Also please please please try to get SF4 running earlier than whats posted :slight_smile:

#5

The actual times for the tournaments are not set in stone. I just posted the suggested times I had at this moment. I can start SF4 teams and Singles earlier and have SC4 move back to a later time. Or I can still have them at the same time, since I have access to both upstairs and downstairs and that means more room to run everything.

If you guys think…
SF4 Teams at 12pm and
SF4 singles at 3PM is better I can also do that.

I also know about the date, but I had already posted this on other sites like 3 weeks ago, I just decided to post it here, and I already knew about all the other tournaments, which is why I gave my reasons in the main post as to why I posted it here.

The Points will be added in the main post in a minute with all the current up to date point standings.

Also, the prereg list just has not been updated by me, but trusted is as long as the last few ones. I don’t really trust prereg list. All the prereg list from January and on have only had around 30 people and that is not the final count come tournament time. lol

Also, I might have a spoiler trailer for the series up later this week. :slight_smile:

#6

Damn, all the tournaments going on, and I’m gonna miss every one of them due to my youngest sister’s b-day. I hate being a good older brother :sad:

Good luck everyone! No offense, but my money’s (still) on Humbag.

#7

I finally got my cables in so I can finally post about it. lol

All Tournament Finals, Winner’s, Loser’s, and Grand Finals for every game will be played on the projector using a Splitter, so the players play on a normal tube TV to prevent lag while the splitter will give us the image on the Projector and everyone else Spectating can watch the matches on the Projector. This is a great way to show case every game and have everyone at the venue able to see the Finals no matter where they are at. :slight_smile:

We shall see how this goes. Hopefully, it runs fine and we can get to show case some stuff. There will be a video been made that day. Also, I will be taking pictures of all the players that move to the Projector for the Finals cause those pictures will be going to the Sponsors. :slight_smile:

And Webster quit scarring the people away from the tournament with those pictures… >_>;

Also, guys if you can bring set ups please do. the more set ups we have the quicker we can run everything. I am also moving the time slots for SF4 Teams and SF4 Singles. So check the Main Post for that info!

SF4 Singles is at 3PM

SF4 Teams is at 6PM.

#8

I’d like to pre-register.

Wildmog: Street Fighter 4!

Yep, I’m FINALLY going to play something.

#9

Good shit Wildmog

#10

I may ask Rex is he wants to go so we a couple STL peeps might come up. Not sure quite yet though.

#11

Whos gonna run HDR if Syxx is @ DBQ BBQ

#12

We can have Webster run it… lol

I can run it, since at that time I won’t be doing anything, so jmoney and i can run it. =p

#13

I wonder how many people are comming to this?

#14

I’ll keep it conservative and say only 15 people show up. :slight_smile:

Anything more than that and I will be surprised. ;D

See… this way… I won’t be disappointed with a low turn out, but really happy if it get over 15… :slight_smile:

#15

:stuck_out_tongue: LOL J-dolla dyme bizzle!!!

as long as you dont call me J-$ i wont call u webby

#16

Awesome. SF4 singles at 3pm will work for me if it starts on time!

I think Ill make an appearance.

Only thing.

My Pelican convertor died at the last one. Anyone let me borrow their ps3 stick and or pelican convertor will be greatly appreaciated. I havent gotten a new convertor yet.

#17

I has converter, do want? :encore:

#18

If its a lagfree one that would be awesome If I could borrow it during my matches.

#19

I might go.

#20

Sign me up for SFIV and S!AH2. I’ll really try to make this since I have the day off.

I think I’ll need a team mate for SFIV. Not sure if I’m even going just yet, but if I make it I’ll need a partner if I’m there on time, of course.

I can also bring a TV if needed, as well as a PS2 with S!AH2.
