Common Stick Setups, Tips, and Discussion

#1

Being a game with a non-standard layout system, I’d like to compile arcade stick setups for general statistic gathering and as advice for new players. Stick layouts should be in the common ABCDx format, with empty buttons being x’s, and letters other than ABCD for buttons that are presets. Please remember to document what your presets are as well or they’ll be added as x’s to the statistics.

Example Extra Button Format:

Using this thread to discuss reasoning for setups and tactics associated is highly advised, and important information will be added to the first post for future reference.

I haven’t used any kind of macros just used

AC
BD

Although, the idea of using a macro or two in this game doesn’t seem like an awful idea.

#3

I’ve been doing a Marvel-esque layout since that’s the game I’m coming from:

A B C
D

Working okay for me so far!

#4

I’m weird.

C D
A B

#5

Ive been running it the same way. Just feels right coming from Marvel and SF.
No macros as well.

#6

My problem with the Marvel layout is that you need to hit CD for some stuff.

#7

A B C
D E T

E = evasive action
T = Throw
Had the same problem of hitting C and D to throw sometimes, so i macrod it lmao

#8

I hit D with my thumb and C with my ring finger and haven’t had any issues with it.

#9

AC
BD

Arcade default, just the way it should be.

#10

A C D
B

I use S. labrys so the D being the index finger is nice so I can guard easier.

Messes up dp a bit but it’s not so bad.

#11

I’m using

A B C
D Throw Evade

I wouldn’t mind using the 4 button Marvel layout but there doesn’t seem to be a way to set buttons to “no action” I had to make my far buttons record and play

#12

I thought about
AB
CD

but pressing throws just feels too awkward, even more then using [S]focus attack[/S] throw on the standard bindings, so I keep it on arcade standard:

A C
B D

@ppl using “throw” or “evasive action” or something like that on a single button…
I’m sure you’d look delightful in that pink dress you were shopping the other day.

#13

I just bought a NeoGeo PS3 stick and a 360 PCB because of this game. Four button is so perfect.

#14

I’m using default without macros.
Rather than looking at the layout as ABCD I’m just looking at it as hi lo, hi lo as it makes it less confusing to compare it with kof and some mvc3 layouts.

#15

whats the default?

is it

AC
BD

?

#16

Yes.

#17

Using claw on a PS3 pad with standard 4-button layout and ignoring macros is working well for me. I’m in the market for a stick though

#18

ABC
XXD

…was what I found to be the most comfortable.

BDs are simple, as are CD throws, and all of your other ish is on top.

#19

What are the damn numbers before the letters about?

some already put out a general mechanism, notations, newbie, whatever thread and include this:

… or I will do it Ò_Ó
