Obviously, the pool play was a big influence on this year’s results, since losses didn’t reset. I do not have full pool data at this time, but if I remember, I will ask Mr Wizard for those and add that data in as people want. Please note that these results are written up from video I took of the brackets: they should be complete, but yell at me if I screwed up anything. Pre-qualifiers at Evo East/West got a lovely advantage: top 4 got one winner’s bye, and bottom 4 started out on even footing with pool winners. The moral is: go to the pre-qualifiers.

It’s hard to say who was most impressive. Eder, Demon Hyo, and SmoothViper are all obvious choices for doing so well, but at the same time the WC cats took 2-4, and I would bet you that no one out there would have predicted that. I’m biased, but RowTron knocking Sanford out in pools was almost unthinkable. Duc beating JMar makes sense - it’s a hell a counter-team, but beating Sanford? Again, stunning. And you know everyone in the crowd thought that Soo was going to beat JWong…
… I think the Final 8 were a little flat, a little lop-sided, but that was made up by some beastly play along the way. GG all.

 Stop beasting on my Servbots!

He’s sadly sitting next to my VCR with his little broken arm. I’ve still got five more unbroken ones downstairs, anyways. At one point I was going to try to get all 42 (40 normals + gold + red control Kobun), but these fuckers are a) really hard to find (Japanese exclusive pre-order bonuses) and b) unbelievably fragile, as you noticed.

No worries. It happens, and I had already found out myself the hard way that just trying to bend the arms breaks them.

If you’re ever in Seattle, you can see my Kobun army. I actually (literally) bought CapCom out of their Servbot stock a couple years ago - the girl called me to say they could only deliver ~65 of them.
