was sf4 mostly locals? O_O

#3

Apparently…yes, but WI came down too.

But more than 1/2 of the SFIV entries were “first timers” [to tournament play], and there were HELLA LONG wait times b/w people’s matches… so most of’em left by the later rounds (to the point where we were able to cut 1/2 the bracket 'cuz of DQ’s).

A couple minor setbacks aside, and w/ the limited resources we had, it ran pretty well (took 'bout 7 hrs).

EDIT: While I’m here, jus’ wanted to say GG"s to everyone I played. Nice seeing some people again, while meeting a bunch if new ones. I was the guy in the mario raccoon-suit hoodie.

And thanks to slevin, Kris, Jose, and Jim for letting me borrow their sticks.

Also, last but not least, props to Syxx. Kept his composure and played like a champ the whole way through, while practically the whole room against him, more or less.

TvC was:

1.) Keits (Undefeated) (Tekka/Saki, Lightan)
2.) Empty Shiki (Lost to Keits, Keits) (Roll/Yatta, Tekka/Saki, Some other team to counter Lightan)
3.) Random1234 (Lost to ?, ?) (Karas/Ryu)
4.) J1n (Lost to Empty, Random) (Karas/Rock)

#5

I never want to hear how Chicago has no scene now, holy shit…

#6

I really doubt the turnout’ll be this high in 2 wks…a bunch if people left 'cuz they didn’t expect it to last that long.

Also, there were a bunch of’em who were jus’ whiney little pricks about it.

So people should all start talking about what games should be cut, substituted or possibly rotated.

On one hand (looking at the numbers for each game), its glaringly obvious which games are more likely candidates to be axed or what have you (but even those numbers are high for a bi weekly at nickels).

But on the other hand, its impossible to predict if the turnout for these games will be the same for the next tourney or the one(s) after, for better or worse.

Should we wait till the next one(s) to come to a more concrete decision about what goes and what stays (or if anything should go at all)?

#15

not to be a dick…but u should like…show up for one before you start talking about what games should/should not be there

#16

I was under the idea that console games would be rotated not axed, at least thats what the OP in the Bi-weekly thread says…

#17

tvc is probably getting axed…itll probably be 2-3 games each tourny with a rotation between ggxx/sthd/possibly console mvc2/possibly console 3s/possibly ah2(only because andy reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally wants this and thinks it will get numbers so well give it a try)

#18

your gonna get some shit like “don’t enter tourneys for shits, enter to level up” or something along those lines. That I agree with, but either way you’ll have a great time, whether it be for shits, or to level up…

#19

nope there were hella people yesterday who joined games that they RARELY play or dont play at all and it was great…that was the whole point of 1$ tournys

#20

ggs to everyone. big success imo.

i was re-thinking this and in the end i think you are right about ah2, turnout, interest, etc. in spite of that, i would still like to run it at one biweekly, just so people can see what the game is about and promote the game since getting released in 2-3 weeks (apr 9) (for jp ps2). the next biweekly after that coincides with the arcade ufo tourney, so im thinking the may 2 biweekly would be good to run this. and, of course, id make sure that it wouldnt add any hassle to you or the other tourneys.
