I need some help picking a stick from these two

#1

Hey just joined to ask this, I’m going to get into fighting games for the ps3.
I used to play with my uncle on his stick for the ps1 years ago I don’t reall know to much, I was going to get a hori 3 but I can’t find one in stock. My friend said to get this one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0015PHMFU/ref=s9_subs_gw_s0_p63_i1?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=center-1&pf_rd_r=06KJ7Y782KATNEYTVVRE&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=467198433&pf_rd_i=468294

But after some looking I found this one: http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-1i-49-en-70-22b8.html

Which do you think is better?

Personally, I would think that if you get either of these sticks, you have to mod them. Here is the tutorial for the mayflash: http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?p=6498497

and one for the saulabi: http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=155281

Just read through a bit of it to get an idea of what you are going to get yourself into. After that you should be able to make a choice.

#3

Well could someone link to a stick thats good out of the box as I don’t know how to mod. Or is it easy for these two sticks?

#4

I’m going to get the Saulabi, how easy is it to make it better with mods, and where would I get the parts?

#5

buy a madkatz TE stick, or a custom from osmeone on here. those sticks look shit

#6

It’s not a trivial mod. I recommend you a HRAP3.

#7

What are your guys thoughts on modding a Mayflash vs modding a Agetec green goblin? We’re talking more about how the finished product works rather than degree of difficulty of the mod.

#8

HRAP3? What does that stand for, and will I need to mod it?

Also what did you mean by trivial mod?

#9

Hori Real Arcade Pro 3

#10

By not a trivial mod he means if you can’t solder and use a dremmel, don’t bother.

#11

So if I get a HRAP3, will I need to mod it at all or is that the best out of box one you can get?

#12

the best you can get out a box will be the madcatz tournament edition stick.
hrap3 is very close only the buttons will need mod since it’s not sanwa buttons.
madcatz TE is fully sanwa out the box so it’s the best.
just don’t get confused with the SE version, that one is shit.

#13

^2009.

HRAP 3 SA is all Sanwa out of the box. HRAP 3 is a Sanwa stick with Hori buttons.

Info on most HRAPs can be found here: http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=95713

So if you buy some Sanwa buttons, they’re REALLY easy to change out since it has quick disconnects. You just pull the plugs off of the buttons, pop/screw them out, and pop/screw in your Sanwa buttons.

#14

So is that a HRAP3 but with sanwa buttons, pretty much?

#15

HRAP 2/3 SA if you can find them. Pretty much the best out of the box stick money can buy.

#16

My friend is all BUY A CHEAP STICK TO START, so is the Saulabi 4K Arcade Stick a good starter stick?

#17

dont waste money on a cheap stick, get a proper one.

#18

Dude, let’s put this simple…

You’re not buying a motorcycle that so you have to start with a cheaper/less powerful one in order to get used to it.

Your stick won’t tear apart 'cause you’re not that much of a stick player by now. A good stick will only increase your learning curve on how to use it, believe me.

If you want a cheapper one because you don’t know if you’ll keep it, go for it. However, if you’re decided on learning how to properly play it you should go for a good one.

If you want the best out of the box sticks you should go for a Madcatz TE or a HRAP3/2 SA.

There’re other good cheaper options like the Hori Fightstick and the Madcatz se. They are by far worst than the aforementioned ones and sooner or later you’ll feel tempted on modding them.

The rest of sticks out there are pretty much the same, imo.

#19

I’m not fully sure, but if you get that Saulabi from Play-Asia, the price will practically double due to their shipping costs, so it’s not worth it.

#20

I suggest you buy my PS3 Tournament Edition Fightstick.
