Other Casual Events

Doors close: 1:30 A.M.
Venue Empties at 2:00 A.M.

I will also TRY to keep one setup for friendlies/MMs for each game. Space pending.

$5 Venue (waved if you bring a FULL SETUP* AND we use it. First come first serve.)
$3 venue with Console
$1 venue with TV
Food can be (and should be…. It’s really good.) bought at this event.

  • A Full Setup means: TV plus system + game WITH EVERYTHING UNLOCKED!!! (Except for Blazblue’s Astrals.)

The following Hacks are banned from the Wii:
In-stage texture Hacks
In-music Hacks
Any hacks that change the gameplay.

If these hacks are on the wii, IT WILL NOT COUNT TOWARD WAIVING VENUE!

As I said before, the game with the most attendance WILL BECOME THE MAIN EVENT of the next tournament. In the case of a tie, well I haven’t figured that out yet…

However, the tournament with the LEAST attendance will be replaced with a different game.

The game that will be added is…:

Soulcalibur 4

This is because of the size of the venue, and the amount of time I have it for. I am working on getting a larger, cheaper venue. BUT until then, there is a cap. Yes this means there can be more than 48 people at the tournament, just 48 per tournament.
Also there will be no pools for any $5 tournaments. (Sorry Brawlers.)

Sign up by typing the following in this thread or in another thread for the other games:

Crew(If it applies)
Games you want to enter
Setups you can bring

For example:

(The ‘/’ means I have one TV and system with two copies of the games.)

Bracket Seeding will be done in this order of priority (as best as I can based on knowledge of previous tournaments and assistant T.O.s)

  1. Skill
  2. Points (See Post 2)
  3. Car Group
  4. Region

(For all 5 dollar tournaments)

1st: 60%
2nd: 30%
3rd: 10%
4th: $5 (Removed from the pot before the top three payouts are calculated)

  • YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN CONTROLLER and name tag. Any malfunctions or errors that occur are your responsibility, so bring an extra controller if possible and always check to make sure you’re using the correct settings BEFORE a match is played. If a match is to be restarted due to controller functions, it must be agreed upon by both parties.

  • Keister’s Controller Rule: IF YOU DO NOT OWN a system/controller for the system you want to play on, you must arrange borrowing controllers beforehand with someone that does. Otherwise, YOU MAY NOT ENTER THAT EVENT! In the case of multiple consoles, the “main” console will have precedence over the other. If two players meet, and one has a 360 controller and one has a PS3 controller and the game’s main station is 360, THEN the game will be played on 360 and the ps3 player will have to find a controller. This is all based on available setups. In the case that the main console is not at the tournament (say no 360s for SSF4), or there are low numbers, the T.O. will be able to lend out controllers. (Only PS3 Pads, as I do not have any 360 Controllers or fight sticks.)

In other words, I can supply 2 PS3 controllers for games meant to be played on 360 but are played on PS3 due to lack of setups. This can be fixed if people BRING SETUPS FOR THE GAMES THEY ARE ENTERING!

  • Any action that can prevent the game from continuing (i.e., freezing, disappearing characters, game reset, etc.) will result in a forfeit of that match for the player that initiated the action. You are responsible for knowing your own character, and must be wary about accidentally triggering one of these effects.

  • Dave’s Stupid Rule: No player may choose a stage they have already won on in that set unless agreed upon by both players.

  • Iggy’s Stupid Rule: You may not pause the match yourself. If you absolutely need to pause, it must be done so at the consent of your opponent. The exception to this is at the beginning of a match to check control settings. Then the match is restarted back to the character select screen.

  • No show DQ rule: After a match has been called, if a player is two minutes late he will receive a warning. At 4 minutes late, he will be given a loss for the first game of the set. After six minutes, he will be given a loss of the entire set. There should be no excuse for not being there when your match is called because all the food you need is in the venue for you. Please come talk to me if you have to leave FOR ANY REASON. I do my best to keep the tournament flowing while giving people enough time to rest.

  • Color Blind rule: Should a player have a color-based disability, he or she may request in a teams match to have a specific color for their team. This is so characters such as Lucario or Sonic can be granted the blue team so that there is not unnecessary confusion.
    Applies mostly to Smash games.

  • Wiimotes and Classic Controller users should know to take the batteries out of their controllers after finishing a set; not only will this save battery life, but it prevents accidental intereference and delay for tournament matches. PS3 users need to turn their controllers off via the Home Menu after each match.

  • Stalling is banned.

Applies mostly to Smash games.

  • Nope’s No BS Rule: By participating in this tournament you give the Tournament Operator and their affiliates the right to film, photograph and record your name, nickname, pseudonym, persona, picture, biographical material, voice and/or likeness and to use the same in any manner or media in connection with the Event to broadcast, reproduce, distribute and exhibit such photographs and/or recordings, in any manner whatsoever, by any and all means, media, devices, processes and technology now or hereafter known or devised anywhere in the universe at anytime in perpetuity.

  • Seamus McFly’s Sportsmanship Rule:
If a losing player ends the match with “No Contest” (pausing and ending the game before the victory screen) after they lose their final stock but before “GAME” is called, that player is subject to consequences ranging from forfeit of that set to disqualification from the competition. Consequences can be avoided by apologizing to the other player for robbing them of a victory screen. Also, Excessive displays of rage over losing matches (shouting, controller throwing) will not be tolerated.

In other words, be respectful to the games and the players.

All tournaments will be:
Double Elimination
Best of 3 games (except for Finals: Winner, Loser and Grand will be best of 5)
Please bring your own controller (some controllers MIGHT be available if a player does not own the system, but would like to enter a tournament.)

The exception to this are:
Mystery Event
An Event has 10 or less people, which will result in a round robin tournament with 2 pools. Winner (or top 2) of each pool go on to face each other in a bracket.

Arcana Hearts 3 (PS3)
Winner MUST stay character.
Best of 3 rounds, 99 Seconds.

Super Smash Brothers Brawl:

3 Stock
8 minute timer
Items are set to “off” and “none”

Double Blind character pick can be called at anytime. (Please ask me or any of the staff)

Order of play:

  1. Opponents make their character select screen choices for the first match. *
  2. Opponents start the stage striking procedure. ( “1” is player 1 and “2” is player 2.)
    9 Stages: 1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1
  3. The first game is played, using the stage chosen during step 2.
  4. The winner of the previous match may announce one stage to be banned from the CP list and ANOTHER stage to be banned from the Neutral List.
  5. The loser of the previous match announces the next match’s stage from either the Starter Stage List or the Counter Stage List. **
  6. The winner of the previous match chooses their character.
  7. The loser of the previous match chooses their character.
  8. Repeat steps 5-7 for all proceeding matches.
  • Double blind character selection may be called for the first match. Also, the choices made here include the character’s color and whether the player will start as Samus or Zero Suit Samus, as Zelda or Sheik, or as a particular Pokemon for Pokemon Trainer.

*No player may choose a stage they have already won on in that set unless agreed upon by both players.

  • In the event of a dispute, controller ports will be selected by Rock-Paper-Scissors

  • If the timer runs out, the victor is determined first by stock and then by percentage.

  • Metaknight is banned.

  • Standing Infinites are banned

If a player exceeds 35 OR MORE ledge grabs than the opponent AND the game goes to time, then that player loses a STOCK and normal time-tie breakers apply.

With Doubles, this only applies to players THAT ARE STILL ALIVE when the game ends on time.

Player 1 has 60% 1 stock left, 5
Player 2 has 55% 1 Stock left,36 Ledge grabs
Game goes to time.
Player 2 wins due to stock percentage. (36-5 is 31.)

Player 1 has 60% 1 stock left, 5
Player 2 has 55% 1 Stock left,40 Ledge grabs
Game goes to time.
Player 2 loses a stock due to the rule thus killing him (40-5 is 35.)
Player 1 wins

Player 1 has 60% 1 stock left, 5
Player 2 has 90% 2 Stocks left,40 Ledge grabs
Game goes to time.
Player 2 loses a stock due to the rule thus killing him (40-5 is 35.)
Player 1 wins since 60% is lower than 90%

Player 1 has 60% 1 stock left, 5
Player 2 has 10% 2 Stocks left,40 Ledge grabs
Game goes to time.
Player 2 loses a stock due to the rule thus killing him (40-5 is 35.)
Player 2 wins since 10% is lower than 60%

Player 1 (Blue) has 60% 1 stock left, 5 ledge grabs
Player 2 (Blue) has 0 stocks left, 1000000 ledge grabs
Player 3 (Red ) has 0 Stocks left, 40 ledge grabs
Player 4 (Red ) has 80% 1 Stock left, 30 ledge grabs
Game goes to time.
Blue Team Wins since 60 is lower than 80.

EXAMPLE 6: (Which I have never seen before…)
Player 1 (Blue) has 50% 2 stock left, 40 ledge grabs
Player 2 (Blue) has 0 stocks left, 1000000 ledge grabs
Player 3 (Red ) has 40% 1 Stock left, 5 ledge grabs
Player 4 (Red ) has 80% 1 Stock left, 75 ledge grabs
Game goes to time.
Player 1 and 4 each lose a stock to the new rule. (40-5 is 35 and 75-40 is 35)
Red Team wins due to 40 (Player 3) being lower than 50 (Player 1).

Can you make the bring your own controller part 7 size font with Bold Italic and Underline. Also post it like 4 times through the first post. Also make a funny picture telling you to bring your own controller and put that in there too. As you can tell waiting 20 minutes for a match because no one brought any pads for their own use bothered me last time.

I want in.

Mystery game

Also you should probably update your post to be Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition not plain super unless you are doing Super on purpose. Then carry on.

As long as this doesn’t coincide with my work trip or my brother’s Ohio visit, this is good.

Columbus, OH
Blazblue, Super IV, MvC3, Arcana, Mystery Event
Can bring a 360 with the above games except Arcana, no TV.

Registration updated. (Not from here yet… Tomorrow!)

MVC3: Now best of 5, not 3. Finals best of 7.

@Athrex: I did on the smash thread, where most of the people did that. I’ll remind people again the week before as well, cause I was just as annoyed as you were.

Plain City
MvC3, MK2011, SSBB
I can bring a Brawl setup. Later in the event I’ll turn it into Naruto just because.

Columbus, Ohio
Mortal Kombat 2011, Arcana Heart 3, SF4AE
I’ve got a PS3 with AH3

Columbus, OH
BBCS2, AH3 (even though nobody wants to play Arcana)
Setup with AH3 + TV

Not sure if you caught the Columbus thread, but I saw jetm and gang this weekend and told them about this. They might wanna play…

Kyle, I believe I’m about 100% confirmed to go now, so as I said I can provide a 360 with the listed 360 games.

Heck, I’ll even link this thread in the Cincy thread and Dustloop too if you want Kyle.

EDIT: Also, question from jetm:

I think you were allowing both systems to be played for games if available, but I just wanted to check.

Given everything goes well, I should be able to attend.

Fairborn, OH
BBCS2, Arcana, MvC3
PS3 setup with full BBCS2 and MvC3 and TV

Columbus, OH
PS3 with MvC3/AE, no TV.

Skarlett not required for waived setup.

Attendance List has been updated. Please try to pre-reg by Thursday with your info so I can make the TIO file ahead of time.

@Ryujin: Feel free to post this anywhere I haven’t… lolz.

@JetM: I would prefer to keep MvC3 on one system if possible, but if things are running behind I usually make exceptions.

yo fuck marvel 3 on ps3. jason get an xconverter or w/e no one wants to play on that shit anymore! “deal w/ it bub” - wolverine, 2011

i can bring a 360 with mvc3. my tv already stays at zenos, does that count for a full setup?

sign me up for sf4 mk9 ah3 mvc3

@Dandy: Yes it does count as a full setup.

The reason I was asking was because I’m strictly a pad player, and the 360 offers no good pads, so I don’t have much of an ability to play on the system. At the very least not anywhere near my usual level. I guess that worse comes to pass, I’ll try to tough it out with the SF fight pad. :frowning:

If you can find me a converter for a decent price that doesn’t lag, I’ll gladly check it out. I do want a decent converter (or custom controller, whichever comes first) so we don’t have to clash like this, but as it stands microsoft couldn’t make a decent pad if the blueprints beat them upside the head.

I use an Xconverter 360 Plus that you’re free to borrow if I can make it up there this weekend. It accepts any PS1/PS2 pad afaik. I use it for a Sega Saturn style PS2 pad of my own.

I’m not exactly pre-registering just yet. Need to check with my potential carpool buddies first. I can bring a 360 + MvC3 if everything looks good for the weekend.

No good converters for PS3 pads I take it?

If you want to play on a PS3 pad. Buy a PS2 pad and then buy that convertor. That is the only way you can get a wired official Sony dual shock pad. Since the PS3 and PS2 are identical pad wise. It works fine.

As I always seem to play games on the opposite of what you want for this tournament. I can bring my Asus Monitor + speakers that can be used for something to look pretty. My PS3 system can be used as a second BBCS2 setup as I have all unlocks for it if you want me to bring it.

Dandyj does your xbox have HDMI out?

I’m in.

Crew/Location: Huntington, WV
Entering: MvC3
Bringing: one Xbox 360 (component+composite cables, also has an HDMI port if someone else has a cable), one MvC3, possibly 1 small CRT if it fits in the car. Willing to bring a Wii+Brawl (composite AV) if you have the need for another copy.

The converter compatibility thread in Tech Talk does list one PS3->360 converter, but it doesn’t work with everything (yes to DualShock 3, no to MadCatz TE for example). AFAIK, there’s no easy way to convert a USB controller/stick to be used on something else without modding the controller itself.
