Laredo, Tx. Thread

#1

Hello! This thread is to gather fighters from Laredo and (if possible:wonder:) Nuevo Laredo too. Personally, I don’t see many players around here:sad:, but its worth to try. The point of this thread is to get gamers in a day, weekend, or monthly basis. I wanted to announce that I’m looking for matches in Nuevo Laredo (since I live there), but also in Laredo Tx.

I don’t have anyone to play, except one guy that plays with me once a month or so… Fighters from both Laredos now you don’t have an excuse to not find people to play fighting games.

INTERESTED PEOPLE: send me a PM please! or post here!

UPDATE 07/11/2007

Spanish version here: http://smash-mex.byethost2.com/foro/viewtopic.php?t=729

Well, first of I want to thanks the people who had helped me one way or another.

Well, I don’t know if people know about the upcoming tournament in Nuevo Laredo called smash-mex. Its going to be the biggest and best tournament in all Mexico! So, I did some research, and they have forums, mainly focuses in smash, but that did’t stop me to look for fighters that like 2D brawlers. Any ways I made my point of creating a community, and its working (slowly, but working  ). We even discuss the possibility to add Capcom, SNK, and other fighters (but we need to create this first).

So to start this community I’ve made a list of what the interested people may need. Now, about the place, time, and days. I don’t have any concrete or defined. First, I need people that are really interested in this subject. Now to the list.

—The stuff that you need (or better said what you can offer)—

Consoles: Dreamcast, Gamecube, Xbox, and PS2 ( I’ll take my DC).

Controls: Well, I recomend you to take the one you feel more comfortable using. (I’ll take my Arcade Stick, couple GC, and DC controllers).

Games: Take any games you want, but (for preference) they have to be oriented to fighting games. (I’ll take my DC fighting games).

Adaptors: If you want to play with your ps2 controller on the DC you need an adaptors, so take whatever you need (I’ll take 3 DC–>PS2).

AND OVERALL WE NEED YOUR PRESENCE!

If someone can help out with this and the location, send me a PM or post here. AND TELL YOUR FRIENDS ABOUT THIS THREAD and POST!

P.D. About the tournament is held at Nuevo Laredo at the Civic Center (Centro Civico) the adress is: Heroez de Nacataz y Reynosa
col. centro from 9:00 am a 8:00 pm during the july 22 and 23!
Entrance is 10 pesos (for spectators only), registration for the competition 70 pesos!

Finally, I have a date for our matches. We are going to make our first meeting at “Gauntlet Game Lounge”.
The adress is 5517 McPherson Ste 2. (you don’t know where it is? Use google maps:)

We are meeting at 2:00 P.M. At July 13 2007. Interested people please drop by! Bring money because they charge seven dollars the hour, but only for one TV, so , for example, if we play five hours that means we pay 35 bucks. Let’s say we are 5 people; each one pays 7 dollars. So, the more people shows up cheaper it is for you. We are gonna play only fighting games, on Dreamcast, so bring your controllers, adaptors, and arcade sticks. Let the show begin!

Now, we are scheduling meetings every weekend. So, show your best skillz anytime!

Might wanna edit your post to make it look less cluttered.

But erm, I live in Alice which has no one for comp (your about an hour and a half away from Alice).

I only pointed this out because the looks of things, it seems like your closest town for comp would be Alice. You can always attempted to hit SA and Harligen of course, but damn… your location sucks.

#3

I go to SA in a monthly basis (not cheap you know); I play some SF3 and MvsC 2 casuals. Hopefully, I hope someone read this to create a decent community in Laredo. Finally, about the location you are right, but there is nothing I can do, except this attempt to create a community.

I know a girl in Laredo (she plays games too) whose brother plays some games. Not sure what kind though. I’ll try letting them know. I’m in SA and we’re trying to set up guilty gear AC gatherings, but I also know that Skip and Yamazaki35 hold gatherings for 3S, CvS2 and I think MvC2 as well like every wednesday.

Also, what games do you play other than 3S and MvC2?

#6

if you can get enough people for a AC tourney i’ll let you make one if you want, we also play KOF, and i play some Melty Blood but mostly CvS2, MvC2, 3s, Super Turbo and some KOF

#7

I play every fighting game for dreamcast! All evo 2d games, and do you know if his brother goes to tilt (local arcade in laredo)?

And if you want a list of what a play here it is:

SF2T
SF3Alpha
Sf3strike
MarvelvsCapcom 2
Capcomvs SNK2
Garou
King Of Fighters series
GGX
ProjectJustice
and some others

Although I dont play many 3d fighting games! But I can start if they want to!

Some random guy on MySpace asked about this thread and I gave him the link =/

…then he hurt my feelings and said that GGXX is for people who can’t hang with MvC2 T_T but that’s ok 'cause I play GGX2AC >=D

#12

Hey well i know harlingen is kinda far from laredo but if u ever want some good mvc2,3s shit even project justice just hit us up.

#13

W3ll, I’m flattered by your invitations, but here in Laredo (and Nuevo Laredo) have great communities for games like Pump it Up, Yu-Gi-Oh (…), and smash. Specially Smash, because they are hosting (Nuevo Laredo) the greatest tournament in Mexico, smash-mex, and I feel envy and sadness to not have the same love for fighting games. I know its not easy, to start, but I’m inviting every person who likes videogames.

Anyways, Im glad to see that small towns in Tx, have competitions matches. Keep me updated on your upcoming tournaments.

Laredo is about 3 1\2 hours from me.
I am from the McAllen area,
I play MvC2/Street FighterAE/GG/the old school Smash Bros. and I dont mind playing you if your ever in the area.
but I must say,
your not in a good area to live in for competition, and the distance from others.

I have been to laredo a couple of times in the past but thats mostly because theres alot of work over there in my field which is IT.
I dislike being over there becuz of the environment
I tried doing what your doing and it didnt become successful.

I wish you luck.
Just know that in the Rio grande valley (McAllen,Pharr,Edinburg,Weslaco,Mercedes,Harlingen,Brownsville,Raymonville)

theres always someone to play just need to arrange if your ever in the area.

#15

hey fag your location sucks more balls

#16

For interested people, I just update the thread. Refer to the first post!

#17

Any of you guys live near Eagle Pass? I know laredo is just 2 hours away.
