Madcatz TE PS3 pcb

#1

Hey guys,

I picked up a damaged madcatz TE for the PS3 recently and I’ve been looking at it to see if it could be fixed. I see some broken solder points which is good for me because I can handle a soldering iron. The real problem is that I noticed a little piece missing and I’m not sure what it is, or how I would go about getting a replacement, or indeed if it could even be fixed.

If you look at this picture it is the little piece that says R26 202. The board is covered with these things and all of them have 202 printed on them. I’d really appreciate if anyone could tell me what they are, and if you know the answer, if it can be replaced?

Thanks,

-Joe

Those are Resistors.

R15 is for Square.
R12 is for Triangle.
R10 is for R1.
R8 is for L1.
R14 is for Cross.
R13 is for Circle.
R11 is for R2.
R9 is for L2.

R20 is for Square LED.
R23 is for Triangle LED.
R25 is for R1 LED.
R27 is for L1 LED.
R21 is for Cross LED.
R22 is for Circle LED.
R24 is for R2 LED.
R26 is for L2 LED.

202 is SMD Resistor Code for 2k Ohm.

202 is for the LED.
302 is for the Button.

Without R26, the Current will not be limited to L2 LED.
This will make the LED burn dead, but only if the Resistor pads are connected.

With R26 gone, the L2 LED will just not light up.

@jdm714

Thanks a lot for taking the time to answer my question, I really appreciate it. I’m not sure if this pcb is salvageable but I’m a lot better off than I was before!
