So, did anyone try her out at comic-con to see if she had gotten anymore changes.
Changes for Storm so far:
• New move, Fair or Foul Wind.
• Can now mash all of her Hypers for more damage.
Really, Capcom, really? I guess I should be happy they didn’t nerf anything but wow, they could’ve at least improved the range on her ground normals a little bit. The many times that crouching light has poked somebody, only to have cr. m whiff is rage inducing.
This isn’t all inclusive. We know her superjump float assist gimmick is gone, but that is not listed here. So these obviously aren’t all the changes.
Did anyone else notice that the list of changes suggests that Hailstorm is now air-OK?
Is this a mistake?
Edit: Here’s the exact wording - “Number of hits in Hail Storm (ground and air ver.) can be increased through rapid button presses.”
Yea they said they aren’t listing all the changes, just the major ones so there is still hope her normals/specials got tweaked a little.
@drowsy22: I seriously doubt hail storm is air ok now, I mean thats a pretty significant change that I doubt capcom wouldn’t have brought attention to.
Finally, I was wondering, how do y’all use the cold star assist? I mean I noticed after a few casuals at my local gather that I barely actually use the assist on my team(dante/storm/ammy) and the few times I do she gets blown up. I mean when I watch someone using like tatsu, they go cr . :l: :l:, tatsu and then proceed to mix em up from there, or(when playing storm) super jump float assist call and work from there, or with dante st. :h: teleport tatsu. Other than the dante set-up I can’t really think of any that would work as effectively with cold star.
So how would y’all use ammy on a team like that to 1. Use the assist to help my offense and 2. properly protect the assist from getting blown up. Also do y’all know any like traps or set-ups that might be available to my team using the assist? I hate to seem like Im letting other people do my work for me, but I honeslty cannot think of anything.
In the interest of having the UMvC3 character threads be as awesome as possible, I am posting here to offer up my current Ultimate Dormammu Thread as a base skeleton to anyone who intends to manage a character thread, or something similar, in Ultimate. It is currently stripped of information, and will remain so until about a week before release. I am not attempting to toot my own horn, but rather offer to others what took me quite a bit of work to do, so that those who would rather not spend the time on such things do not have to.
I have received a lot of compliments to-date about the structure, and a few people have requested permission to use its structure for UMvC3, so I thought I would go around and make the offer to others who might not be aware that someone out there has already done the grunt work for them (haha). Because I am posting this in all the character forums, and this is time consuming on its own, I have not taken the time to check for how developed the thread I am posting on current is. Thus, I ask that no one be offended at my suggestion if your character forum is well constituted already - I mean no intrusion upon your methodologies!

So, now that all 3 of her hypers can be mashed for more damage and the DHC glitch is removed, is there even a point to using Elemental Rage? (maybe as a full-screen punish)
Other than as a full screen punish I don’t think so, some other properties might have changed so it might have some other applications. Although I do believe the minimum amount of damage it does is a tad bit higher than the minimum damage on hail storm so if your combo is extra long its prolly better to go with it over hail. I do hope they give us(or we discover) more of a reason to go with ER in the long run.
Yeah, it seems ER is going to have little use outside as a punish Hyper and a OTG of a ground throw.
And I used her at NYC Fight Club, and she’s pretty much the same…she might seem a bit faster, but that’s about it.
Why they made her a poor man Mags in MvC3 is beyond me…but characters in the MvC tier wise usually fluctuates over sequels…Wolvie was mid-tier in MvC2 from being Top in MvC, so I guess its Storm time.
Well I use Sentinel assist with her so my team works way differently but there’s a few setups you might like.
1 - Block confirm into Assist then cr.H, jump cancel, mixup (tri jump into cr.L or box jump j.S).
2 - On incoming characters in corner, call Assist then tri dash or wavedash into mixup. This can cross them up depending on how they react, so it’s at best a 4-way mixup and at worst an effective corner pinning.
3 - Call assist during jump cancel loops for additional hits/meter.
The biggest thing is to use Cold Star’s massive active frames to score a high/low mixup. Just gotta know your timing.
Hey just found a nice set-up with drones last night, if you call drones while performing a hail storm the drones will juggle em long enough for you to connect an elemental rage at the end. This isn’t used much right now cause of the lovely DHC glitch but it might come in useful in ultimate so i decided to share it with you.
This is pretty cool. I can only do it after doing a forward H (x4 air dash) ->j. S into hailstorm combo though. Every time I try to do it with my lightning loop combo into hailstorm, I can’t get the timing right for me to call the drones and go into Hailstorm. The opponent always recovers before I get the hailstorm super out. Anyway with the forward H combo into hailstorm, drones, and Elemental Rage, I can get around 682,000 damage. Pretty good, but my lightning loop combo into hailstorm, then DHC into HSF nets me about 701,000 damage. I guess the former is good if you want to keep Storm in play though.
I wonder if this trick will work in Ultimate though. Drones come out much faster so I wonder if it’ll juggle properly in time for Storm to do the E. Rage after Hailstorm.
So far I’ve been doing non DHC glitch combos in preparation for Ultimate. I hope the new hit stun thing won’t make my bnb lighning loop hailstorm combo into DHC HSF useless. It’s been my go to combo for damage when not using the DHC glitch. Could still be powerful in Ultimate( even with the nerfs I still wanna play Sentinel) but if the new mechanics screw it over, I will be one sad panda.
Yea Im hoping it still works in ultimate, but honestly other than looking cool and allowing your team to hit 4 hypers in one dhc chain as opposed to 3 I can’t think of anything else its really good for. Like you said, I simple combo into DHC does more damage and is less wonky so is just better to go for.
I think drones will still be good though, I mean they are faster(and a true block string apparently) but that just takes away the left right mix-ups. The high low will still be intact and the screen control is still there so I won’t be too worried. As a combo extender though it might suffer since they are quicker and storm will prolly not be able to ER after a hail storm. But like I said in my first paragraph its really not that big of a loss.
