Marvel vs Capcom 3 Control Scheme Choice in tourneys?

#1

Yay my first Saikyo post… because I’m really not sure if it’s too simple for the GD!

I am wondering if there has been an interview / opinions from tournament players about which button layout is being used more?

Will definitely pick up the game, but would like to know how many MvC2 players will be opting to use the “config B”… I personally feel that config A, the default MvC3 style seems to make more sense due to the replacement of dedicated kicks/punches.

From the MvC3 thread:

:l: :m: :h:
:s: :a1: :a2:
Config A

:l: :h: :a1:
:m: :s: :a2:
Config B

Legend
:l: = Light attack
:m: = Medium attack
:h: = Heavy attack
:s: = Exchange
:a1:=Assist 1
:a2:=Assist 2

The scheme that felt most natural to me on my arcade stick is custom:
Y- Light attack
B- Medium attack
RB- Hard attack
RT- Exchange attack
LB- Partner 1
LT- Partner 2

The curve layout (B) is something that BlazBlue has given me some familiarity with, so it isn’t that strange. What really does work for me though is the layout of the assists. Having the assists aligned vertically (just as the respective character health gauges are on screen) makes a very broad intuitive kind of sense to me.

I think we are waaaaaay too early to have a consensus for this question. Hell, the game isn’t out yet. Well, officially.

But yeah, there is also a similar thread in the marvel section if you want to check it out.

azproc, your Config A ( the one in your post ) is really Config B.
