…like it’s hitting something as it is spinning. Anyone know WTF this could be?
Magical laptop pixies trying to escape? They get caught in the fan from time to time. Pour some sugar in the vent, that usually quiets them down.
Otherwise, the fan’s ball bearing may be on its last leg or it could simply be rotating awkwardly. Try restarting. If you only have one fan, be careful about how long you use it in one session. Swap that fan out with the quickness if the noise does not stop.
Get a can of compressed air and give it a good clean up, something might be stuck in there.
If the above doesn’t work, you might have to pull the fan out and put a tiny drop of a light sewing machine type oil on the fan’s shaft. That should get rid of the noise and keep the fan running smoothly for a little while longer.
Although it usually means the fan’s dying a slow death and it’ll probably start making a racket again in the future.
Thanks for the info guys, I’ll take my laptop for repair and see what comes up.
