Nov 22nd, Ann Arbor MI, SC4, Naruto CoN:rev2, and Brawl @ Get Your Game On Monthlies!

Get Your Game On will be hosting monthly tournaments in Ann Arbor Michigan on one Saturday a month in October, November and December. They have just remodeled their basement and it looks to be a PERFECT venue for the Smash community and fans of other fighting games. If the snow isn’t too bad and we are successful in getting people every month, we will hold tournaments after December too!

This Month’s Tournament will be taking place on Saturday, November 22nd! This is the same day as the UofM vs, OSU game but… WHO CARES? They both are out of anything worth mentioning and we’d all rather have fun together anyway right?

Registration @ 11 am until 1 pm. If you are bringing a set up I would like you to be here sometime between 11 am and 12 noon. Thanks!

Brawl Doubles and Naruto Clash of Ninja Revolution 2 @ 1 pm!

Brawl Singles and Soul Calibur 4 @ 5 pm!

These are approximate times. Generally one hour is allowed between the first two tournaments and the second two tournaments for getting of dinner and whatnot. Hopefully we keep to schedule because we have to be out no later than 9 pm!

The map included above shows where to find free parking as well as food places directly surrounding Get Your Game On. If you cannot find free parking, there are meters outside the store which are $0.50 an hour for 10 total hours. However, after 6 pm it is free so you can just load the meter until 6 pm.

*Venue fee: $5
Super Smash Brothers Brawl Doubles: $20 per team
Super Smash Brothers Brawl Singles: $10 per person
**Naruto Clash of Ninja Revolution 2: FREE!
Soul Calibur 4: $5

Payout is standard 60%/30%/10% for all events. Percentages may change based on turnout.

*venue fee will be waived when you bring a WHOLE set up (wii w/ game + a TV. Venue fee may also include some food and drinks. Details TBA. Only a limited number of set ups will be allowed. Please let me know if you are bringing one.
**Note: if you are entering both Naruto and Brawl Doubles do not just forfeit your matches if you have to play in a brawl match. We will wait for you. Just because it’s free doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try your best to win!

The $5 venue fee can be paid via trade ins. Aka, old games/systems/whatever, can be traded in to the store as opposed to paying a venue fee. I would call the store first to see if they have too many of something (and therefore wouldn’t take it in) and their number is available on their website (above). So, take advantage of this offer!

Venue Rules:

  1. Respect the Venue- Please pick up your trash and try not to throw controllers, kick chairs, or anything that may do damage to the venue. Anything that is broken or any trash that is left is then my responsibility and I will glare at you for a long time glare.
  2. ABSOLUTELY NO DRUGS OR ALCOHOL ALLOWED INSIDE OR ON THE PREMISES. IF IT IS FOUND YOU WILL BE KICKED OUT, NO EXCEPTIONS. This is a game store which caters to all ages, be respectful and do not make a fool out of yourself.
  3. Smoking cigarettes is allowed right outside the building. Just try not to crowd the door so customers can get inside.
  4. The tournament will be held in the basement (2 rooms!) which will be our space. The upstairs is a game store so please go up stairs to pick up any new games or drinks/snacks if you wish. In general though, be respectful of the other customers.
  5. HAVE FUN! This is something really cool for Ann Arbor and for fans of these games all over. Let’s keep it up so we can keep running them every month!
  6. I will NOT TOLERATE unsportsmanlike conduct. There will be no insulting, coaching, or verbal abuse of any kind during tournament matches. Coaching is allowed between matches only. If I catch you doing any of the above, you will get a warning. Doing it again will result in you being kicked out.
  7. There are no refunds on the venue fee. If you have to leave early and cannot enter a tournament that you paid for, I can give you a refund ONLY if you have not played a single match in the tournament. If you have played at all, I will not give you a refund.
  8. If I am busy (ESPECIALLY if I am in a match) wait until I am done to talk to me.
  9. Anything you bring is YOUR responsibility. If anything is lost or broken myself, nor the venue take any responsibility for it. Keep an eye on your stuff and make sure you take care of other people’s TVs, systems, etc.

Therefore, this list basically says: Be respectful to those around you and have fun…

…or I’ll KILL YOU (jks =P).

Out of State Housing:

If you would like to come to this from out of state, there may be a place for you to stay in the Ann Arbor area on Saturday night. Post in the thread and someone might be able to help you!

Game Rules:

ALL EVENTS ARE DOUBLE ELIMINATION. Nearly everything else is different.

Super Smash Brothers Brawl:

This tournament follows the basic outline of the rules set by the SBR. Details of the rules can be found here.

You may ban one stage from either list after the striking process is over.

Each station will have a list of stages that you may select to avoid confusion. Also, if you and your opponent(s) agree, you may play any stage you want, banned or not. If you have any questions, please let me know before the tournament or before your match. If the match is already in progress you are stuck.

Because I only have a limited number of space for set ups, systems to get rid of the venue fee are going to have to be preregistered. I would appreciate it if those who bring a set up can try to bring a power strip too, since the plug situation will be easier to manage this way.

Alright guys, that seems to be it! Let me know if I forgot anything and I will update it accordingly! See you all there!!

Since it is this weekend I wanted to make sure people still knew about it.

It was a great tournament guys! With 59 registered people for all four tournaments, it was a wonderful turnout where everyone seemed to have a great time! Here’s the results:

Super Smash Brothers Brawl Doubles:

1: Judge Yes (Judged and Yes) (G+W and Metaknight)
2: Team Tornado (Bowyer and Rofa) (Double Metaknight)
3: BloodPanda (Blood Hawk and SamuraiPanda) (Snake and Lucario)
4: Mr. and Mrs. Game and Watch (Princess Aura and Infernohit) (Double G+W)
5: Simply Lotion (OMEGA XF and Chaos)
5: Nova (Asdioh and Viper)
7: Your Mom (RP and Ack)
7: The Italian Military (MachineGunNorm and TheMann)
9: Team Brave (Game and EDG)
9: D&D (Daddy and P)
9: Nana Blows (-PM- and Coco)
9: Hi Hop Fury (Thax and Why No)
13: Deep SIGH (SIGH and Theog)
13: Big and Sexy (Danie and LuLz)
13: OKI_BRO (Okiyama and ORI_BRO)

Comments: It was a close fight for all in the top three here but judged showed his dominance with metaknight by taking out the double Metaknight team of Rofa and Bowyer with ease! I mean… Yes did stuff too… XD Anyway, for all of you wondering, there is a key absence here, and that would be Anther. Anther couldn’t make it to Canada meaning he was left to team with either dingdong or me, but after a few conflicting reports about where Anther was, the time ran late and we started without him, myself and dingdong. We could have had around two more teams had everyone been there on time but… I guess this is why I have to urge everyone to show up on time!

Naruto Clash of Ninja Revolution 2:

1: GTFO Candy (Might Guy, Kabuto)
2: Dark Kakashi (Orochimaru)
3: Killtz (Itachi)
4: Vayseth (Second Seal Sasuke)
5: Ori_BRO
5: MachineGunNorm
7: Barrel Roll
7: Princess Aura
9: Ham
9: Okiyama
9: Skaz
9: WolfKrone
13: Yes!
13: SIGH
13: Infernohit
13: Joe

Comments: Killtz and his twin GTFO Candy came in and dominated the tournament even putting great fights against Naruto veterans Vayseth and Dark Kakashi. GTFO Candy proved how good Kabuto was by playing his main since the GNT4 days with perfect precision. Killtz’s Itachi ended up getting the best of Vayseth in a close set but Dark Kakashi went through Killtz twice only to fall victim to GFTO Candy every time. It was a fun tournament and I hope we can continue them next month!

Soul Calibur 4:

1: Damien ($52.00) (Amy)
2: Whit ($15.00) (Siegfried)
3: WolfKrone ($8.00) (Helde)
4: Ryujin (Kilik)
5: Shardz
5: BLDave
7: GTFO Candy
7: BigWayner
9: Barrel Roll
9: Brian
9: Skaz
9: Killtz
13: Dark Kakashi
13: Ninja
13: Daddy

Comments: ShardZ ran this tournament to help me out since I had Naruto and Brawl to worry about and it ran pretty smoothly. After a small problem including only one person bringing a system and no TV to use, we roughed it a bit and finally got the tournament off and running. Damien came from Chicago and dominated everyone. Wolfkrone came out of nowhere to surprise everyone. He took third but only after an intense set with Whit in the loser’s finals which game down to the last match and last round of the set. I hope we get even more people next time!

Super Smash Brothers Brawl Singles:

1: Anther ($190.00) (Pikachu, Sonic, Fox, Lucario)
2: Judged ($90.00) (Metaknight)
3: Blood Hawk ($30.00) (Lucario)
4: Dingdong (Metaknight)
5: Rofa (Metaknight)
5: SamuraiPanda (Snake)
7: Yes! (Game and Watch)
7: Viper
9: Bowyer
9: Asdioh
9: Infernohit
13: Coco
13: -PM-
13: WolfKrone
13: TheMann
17: Ori_BRO
17: Game
17: Pachi
17: Ham
17: EDG
17: MachineGunNorm
17: PlyrX
25: Princess Aura
25: DayWalker
25: Dark Kakashi
25: Goddie
25: PRPL
25: Skaz
25: Okiyama

Comments: Metaknight is finally starting to become a power in the Michigan scene claiming 3 of the 8 top spots! Maybe that’s just because Lain and NoJ weren’t there to knock them out? Hot_Arms was also strangely absent, and with Princess Aura in town, we figured he would be the first person here! Well, it was an interesting tournament with Anther pulling out Sonic, Lucario, and ending with a 2-stock with his Fox over Judged’s Metaknight in the grandfinalls. What an interesting choice of characters for Anther!

Alright guys, this was a great tournament and I couldn’t have done it without all of you guys. I hope next time they have the side room available so we have more space. BUT, I have an important announcement to make:

Mark your calenders. It will have the exact same time slots, entry fees, etc. It will also be the last tournament before I graduate from the University of Michigan. I’m actually graduating the very next day so, if you don’t want to enter, at least show up and say what’s up for me! It’ll be great seeing everyone again next month!!

Can’t believe I didn’t hear of this until now. I may come to the next one on the 13th.

Third stike please for the nest one, i’ll def show up for that

I can run it and bring 2 set upsx
