Officially. Who are the strongest characters in order?

#1

I know it’s been asked before but I can’t find the thread. So I’m wondering who are the strongest characters in the street fighter universe. Also where does Oro fit in on the list??

#2

It goes…

Tier 1

Gill
Oro
Akuma
Bison (SFA3)

Tier 2

Ryu/Evil Ryu (SF3/SFA)
Sagat

Tier 3

Urien
Rose
Gen
Ken
Charlie

Then I forget the rest, but those are the most powerful from greatest to weakest.

#3

I don’t agree at all where Gen and Urien are. They should be tier 2.

#4

Maybe. They’re both powerful, and would fill out Tier 2 a little better, although I think Rose might be more powerful then Gen. Gen is/was a sick old dying man after all.

#5

the rest

Tier 4: Guile, Chun-Li, Hugo, Vega, Twelve

Tier 5: Adon, Guy, Sakura, Cody, Balrog, Cammy, Zangief, Dhalsim, T Hawk, Alex

Tier 6: The Twelve Dolls, Rolento, Sodom, Karin, Birdie, Necro, Dudley

Tier 7: Blanka, Fei Long, Honda

Tier 8: Makoto, Ibuki, Elena, Yun, Yang, Remy

Tier 9: Dee Jay, R. Mika, Dan

Tier 10: Sean

#6

True, but did not stop him from two deathmatches with akuma. One of which he won.

I find it VERY hard to believe the twelve dolls are stronger than Blanka,Honda and Fei Long.other than that and Gen and urien being tier 2,the rest of the list seems pretty accurate.

EDIT-TAS,you forgot Q,he is in tier 2 I believe.

#7

Yeah the 12 Dolls seem like they should be Tier 9, and so should Sean. Sean may suck but I imagine he’s a better fighter than Dan.

I left him off because he’s only “suspected” to be in Tier 2.

Stupid “mysterious character” cliche. Q is probaly the laziest design of the SF3 cast, he’s based on a anime/manga char, and has no story.

Also I wonder if he could get up if anyone knocked him over.

I don’t know.Dan has alot of skill and much potential. His rage for revenge and plain silliness keeps him from advancing.remeber,he did train for a while under Gouken until Gouken saw he was only out for revenge.Sean has ALOT to learn. He will become stronger if Ken ever decides to train him.

LOL

Well,Q is one of my favorites. He may not be the most original, but thats cool and that is part of his charm.if you ever played him in third strike i think you would find him very original in gameplay style and very fun.His defense up taunts are great and he has spome of the most powerful moves and supers. He loks incredibly cool even if he is ripped or in better terms,INSPIRED by other anime or manga. The whole mask, trenchcoat, hat and mysterious and powerful look makes him for a cool character and I bet when sota gets around to his figure, its going to kick all kinds of ass.

#9

Yeah but Capcom has always portrayed Dan as a joke, and I think they’d probaly always like to keep him as the least powerful char in the series. Sean kinda took his place in the SF3 cast (since Ryu and Ken were added to it) but I think he has alot more potentional then Dan ever did, ie Dan just always stayed in the same place, never evolved, and dosnt seem like we’ll ever see him again in a SF sequel, unlike Sean.

His gameplay is defenitly original, I wont aurgue that.

See the thing is I think you could of taken those things, the mask, trenchcoat, etc, and just made them more intresting, ie still do the mask and trenchcoat but make them unique and not exactly like an anime/manga char.

See one big problem the SF3 designs had, was the fact that there were too many designers, like if you check the credits there’s like 20 character designers. Then what happend was Akiman and Kinu took all those designs and put their own spin on them, when in actuality alotta the concepts looked better then their redesigned versions.

Yeah probaly, he should be a easy character to make, plus he dosnt have a face/head that they can screw up on (ala Ryu)

Nice pic of Sean.did you draw that? Lol about Ryu.not the best face sculpt, and worst of series 1 and 2 so far,but not horrible. You are right about Q,though, they can’t mess a face up if he does not have one.Vega with the masked face came out great, but the regular face is a little off.

#11

Nah that pic was draw by EFeX.

No it was done by eFex, but it looks like my version of Sean and is drawn alot better then the pic I did, so I just use that pic whenever refering to the future of Sean, although he probaly shoulda loooked like that to begin with in SF3.

Well everyone pretty much thought the Ryu headsculpt sucked and SOTA even did a “resculpt” which looks exactly the same, just painted diffrient.

But then I saw the fan version, and it looked amazing, plus had a better paint job to boot (Ryu’s SF2 colors)

And I was like “damn I wouldve bought the figure if it had looked that good”

I thought the exact samething too.

SOTA’s two biggest problems I see are the face sculpts (some look good, most look bad, or could be better) and hidding articulation, ie I see ALOT of places on the figures where the articulation could be hidden better, yet SOTA seems to go outta the way to make the articulation very obvious, specialy that mid-torso thing, wtf is that? Thats gotta be the worst type of articulation Ive ever seen on a figure.

EDIT

Yeah, EFeX did it, he also drew some pics of my version of an older post-SF3 Ryu…

Chest - limited hinge

Wouldn’t GEN be in Tier 1, didn’t he run away from Akuma?
Also, I do agree that Ken and Urien be in Tier 2.

#15

So…SNK world tier…leaving out bosses since they are “gods” in their own right.

#16

Hell no.

All the people in Tier one are GOD like characters, Gen was never on that level, even when he wasnt sick.

Gen is powerful, but not god like, plus he was dying during the SFA games.

Why would he run from Akuma if he should be in Tier 1, ie I dont see any god like characters running from anyone.

When Gen and Akuma fought, Akuma did the Shun Goku Satsu on Gen, but it didnt do anything to Gen, then Akuma relized Gen was sick, and walked away from the fight at that point.

Who else said Ken should be in Tier 2?

Ken isnt that powerful, he should NOT be in Tier 2. Ken has never been on the same power level that Ryu and Sagat have been on. Ken slacks off all the time, he’s never been one of those guys thats hardcore about training like Ryu, Sagat, and Akuma, plus his playboy/family lifestyle is what really dragged him down and stopped him from training.

If Ken had kept on with his training like Ryu, he’d be Tier 2, but he didnt/dosnt, so thats why he’s Tier 3.

No, all the SNK god chars would be Tier 1. You cant just leave out characters from a Tier list because they’re bosses, ie look at the SF tier list, Gill and Bison were bosses but they’re up there.

#17

I dont think Ken shouldnt even be as high as the third tier, didnt Cody beat him before? There was a really good write-up on the whole SF tiers, with every character included in it. Not sure where it is though…

Also, didnt Adon beat Sagat once too? Even though Sagat was distracted at the time with Ryu or something along those lines, if that is the case then Adon might be at the third tier too.

#18

if you start making tiers based on who has beaten who, then dan should be tier 2 or above, since he’s beaten sagat in a fair match =p

#19

that’s the idea. his mind now(er, SF2 at least) is clear of distraction and he is more powerful. Sagat is considered as powerful as Ryu during SF2, and this list seems to rank characters by their most powerful form.

#20

people definitely don’t give Ken enough credit. Think about it. The guy slacks off, isn’t serious about training, has a family, and still has enough in him that he’s STILL competetive with Ryu. Ryu doesn’t search out Ken and go back to him time and time again because he likes to dominate him. It’s because Ken gives him a challenge. Yes, Ryu has the better win record, but is it by much? I doubt it. Does it justify an entire tier difference? I don’t think so. I think half a tier is justified definitely, since Ryu IS stronger then Ken, but I think the difference between Ryu and Ken is much smaller than the difference between, say, Ryu and Rose.
