PhotoshopCS Painting Brush problem

#1

This little annoying thing is on my new PS that wasnt on previous ones. I think its some brush option that was turned on with it, but I’m a noob. Whenever I do a brushstroke, and then another that overlaps it- it makes the first layer of color a dark combination of the two. Say I make a stroke of pink, and then do it again, it makes a dark ass pink instead of the same color! Im pretty sure this is some simple thing, but please help me.

with your brush tool selected, look at your options bar.
You’ve probably got the mode set to “hard light” or “multiply” or something. set it to “normal” and you should be fine.
