Player Design vs Player Commitment

Can a player of fighting game (this can be applied to other games, really.)** only be designed to play a certain type of character or a certain play style?**

I am interested to hear examples that some of you may have.

I’m not sure I understand your question. Players aren’t exactly “designed.”

Do some people have an innate ability with certain characters or playstyles over others? Yes. Some of this is prior game experience (A person who played Third Strike might have a hard time adapting to keepaway tactics in Blazblue, for example). Some is just how our brains think differently.

However, commitment to any character through practice can usually overcome any difficulties with execution, at least on a basic level.
