Ralph baer AKA the father of videogames, dies at 92

Thanks to him, We control the vertical. We control the horizontal. WE CONTROL IT ALL. R.I.P. inventor of the greatest peripheral device since the remote control.

Just read this awhile ago. Gonna have to locate my Magnavox Odyssey, and play it in tribute.

Did they bury him in a region locked, exclusive to game developer’s cemetery?

1958 is significantly earlier.

yeah but did he play cvs2?

otherwise not important :wtf:

Not Japanese hence not true.

Nice to see another Odyssey owner.

I remember reading about him for the first time in my Guiness Book of World Records 2008 Game Edition. His contributions were a very interesting read.

Gamasutra interviewed him years ago: http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/130108/the_right_to_baer_games__an_.php?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+GamasutraNews+(Gamasutra+News)

He was also the first rage quitter:

Quoted for the truth, this man is father of videogames, and the first interaction with the screen.**

Baer helped design the first modern home video game console, that all of today’s consoles are based on or influenced by-- not “the video game.”
