Sanwa garage door opener mod

Yes, you read that right.

I had a couple of OBSF-30RGs (Sanwa’s “tougher” button) left over and I thought at least one of them shouldn’t go to waste.

Before:

Here I’ve taken it apart and already rounded out the hole for the OBSF-30RG. The original button is the white pill shaped thing in the center, and it originally had a pill shaped hole to go with it.

After marking a 30mm hole I filed out the circle and sanded down a bit of the lettering on top so that the button sits flush.

To fit the button in I removed the entire microswitch portion, then cut and sanded off about half the depth of the Sanwa button. Then I sanded out a spot in the plunger for the original garage door opener button to fit into. Basically I set it up so that when it’s all snapped together the plunger of the Sanwa button sits right over the original button in a way that gives it just the right action.

And there you have it, Japanese arcade parts installed in a garage door opener.

Now all I need is some plexiglass and a picture of Cammy’s butt and I’ll be set!

I should mount something like this to my motorcycle.

If you have a really big house, you could do a blast city layout for a 6 door garage.
