Sheet Metal Surfacing

#1

Well, I did some thinking on the look of my stick, and have decided I want to do some metalwork on top of it instead of the traditional lexan. Why?

  1. Lexan scratches up so easily, and I really don’t know what I can do to protect it.
  2. I’m going to be using metal for the button panel anyway, why not add more metal?
  3. It’s an excuse to work on my metalworking.

The question for SRK here is this: why shouldn’t I do it this way, if there’s any good reason. Also, any suggestions other than the obvious Brotherhood of Steel emblem that I should etch into it?

I dunno. Sounds pretty cool to me. Heck, I’ve seen people build sticks out of shoeboxes. This sounds much better :wgrin:

As long as you have proper tools for cutting metal, you should be fine. Be sure to wear protective eyewear when you’re cutting, metal pieces in the eye suck.

Honestly, the best person to ask about metal working is Noel aka finkle. But he’s so busy that he probably won’t have time to answer your questions.
