Spokane, WA - Game On relocating, fight nights temporarily cancelled

#1097

It’s really more of a matter of school for me. If I happen to not be swamped I may show up. If you’re looking to practice some marvel I can do some sessions with like maybe a couple of people (small apartment). I’m on the south hill.

#1098

I know Jammo3k and I believe House of Paincakes have expressed interest in getting together at somebody’s house but it hasn’t happened yet. I’m definitely down for it.

#1099

How’s Spoklash been in the past? Bigger turnout than the GameOn events?

#1100

It was a fairly good turn out last year.

#1101

Yeah, Ben was offering to host some people but I don’t think he ever actually did host. My wife and I just had a baby a few weeks ago so my social life is kind of in a weird spot right now. Eventually I could probably host again as well.

There are also cash prizes. Forgot to mention that.

#1105

Oh hey, that is actually a time that works for me. If there is a carpool going I will likely be interested in attending.

#1106

Do love the support if you guys can make it over here.

#1107

Thanks for the heads up! I won’t be able to make it but hopefully some of these guys can.

#1108

That would be really great.

#1109

So is the Spokompton scene mainly SF and UMVC or do you guys play some others. I like just about all the different fighters so just kinda seein whats played where. i live in Quincy/Wenatchee so not much of a scene here mainly just my friends for anything semi serious so just been lookin around seeing whats going on within driving distance (basically all of Washington lol). and didn’t really want to read all 23 pages to try and find that out. oh and don’t let the evo 2012 thing fool ya I’m not that good just going for the fun of it lol.

Last weekend was Spoklash. There were about five people for Marvel and AE, with two of them being from outside the area. Previous years (I’m told) have had much better turnouts. When Game On was still a thing, the Moscow/Pullman crew would wander over for tournaments and sometimes outnumber the Spokane attendees. Overall, I would say the Spokane scene is not very active, unless they’re having secret weekly meetups I don’t know about.

Looking at Google maps, you’re about 30 minutes closer to the Seattle area than you are to Spokane. That’s where I would look for games if I were you.

If you’re specifically looking for something in Eastern Washington though, there are tournaments next week in both Richland and Walla Walla. The last Walla Walla tournament I went to had pretty good turnout; comparable to peak Game On activity. Link.

Cool thnx for the info the seattle/spokane drive feels the same to me so just wanted to see what was out there. hopefully your area gets revived soon I know how it is having a near non-existent local FGC. defiantly check out the Richland scene I got a bro that lives there so make it easy if I don’t want to drive back after

#1112

Last Spoklash was something like 18 for Super.

When I was hosting things at my house, we had about 12-14 people showing up regularly which was pretty awesome and way more than I expected (though a bunch of sweaty dudes made my house hot as hell). Then Game On opened and we transferred there, but people slowly stopped showing up and I’m not sure why because we had an awesome setup there (work and school schedules I’m guessing).

Now that Game On closed, we’re pretty much dead in the water. That’s pretty sad that Spoklash only had 5 people for both AE and Marvel, hopefully you guys at least did a round robin to keep things interesting.

I do want to host something at my house again as I’ve been playing a lot of Marvel online lately and really miss playing you guys locally. I’m pretty tied up right now though with a newborn and my wife needs a lot of help due to some certain circumstances with him. It will only be temporary though, so hopefully in a few weeks I will be more available and maybe I can plan to host something on a Friday night.

#1114

Guys, it’s time to revive our scene. We need to get something regular going again.

#1115

I’ll be up in Idaho after Evo if anyone wants to get games in,

#1116

Do any of you guys have any experience with Game World? Their website lists that they have hosted tournaments, but the most recent stuff they list is from back in February and March. I sent them an e-mail a few weeks ago asking if they’d be willing to host something for our FGC (either tournaments or a weekly thing) but never heard back. I’d been meaning to stop by and just talk to them in person, but haven’t yet and I was just curious if you guys had been there.
