Team Canada @ EVO World 2009

#1

I thought it best to start this thread early and see what kind of interest there is. I’ll be attending EVO World 100% this year as it falls right into my Vegas vacation plans (I’m off from July 10th - July 20th). In case people weren’t aware of EVO information:

DATE:
Friday July 17th - Sunday July 19th

PLACE:
The Rio Hotel & Casino

GAMES:
Street Fighter 4
Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix
Soul Calibur 4
Marvel vs. Capcom 2
Guilty Gear XX, Accent Core
SF3, Third Strike, 2v2 team tournament

NOTES:

  • Mr. Wizard apparently is getting a group rate for SRK players. Personally I’m going to look into getting my own rate through friends in the travel industry and I’m willing to bet they can find something even cheaper.

  • I’d be going for the week as I want to see UFC 100 on the 11th. If you want to hit up Vegas for a week (and by hit up I mean have the money to do it) then find me via PM or MSN and we’ll work something out. I would assume that most people will be going from Friday - Monday or something along those lines if they’re only there for the tournament.

  • I’m not going to lie, this trip could be pricey depending on what you want to do while in Vegas. If you want to attend and you don’t have a ton of money right now, start to save. This is five months notice for you to put together the funds.

  • I’ll update this first post on a regular basis as new information comes in. Please post up if you’re interested in attending.

If u can give a estimate on how much is it? very interested in going this year.
would 2 - 3 g be enough?

#3

Tickets there now are pretty cheap. On westjet for us it was under $400 before taxes. I hear the group rate is actually really good.

#4

Mahir and I have already bought our round trip tickets from Edmonton for $455 after taxes. Staying at the Rio from the 15th to the 20th will cost us about $175 each. Throw in a few hundred dollars for food and entertainment and this will be the least expensive Evo I have ever attended.

#5

Well, me and three others are probably going to attend Evo, but I don’t know if they’ll be staying as long as me. I’ll be staying from the 16th to the 21st as those were the cheapest tickets I can find, and I heard that you can pretty much check out Vegas in about 2-3 days anyways. So I haven’t booked any flights yet, or hotels, but was wondering if people were looking to just split rooms.

#6

Yuhin; it’s actually a very moderately priced trip. For me to fly solo with my own room for 9 nights was just under $800. I’m sure if you’re paired up with someone it’s running $400 - $500 or so in flight/hotel. Your other costs will vary obviously.

#7

really? i think i have the fund arelady for the trip, since i quit gambling and not planning on gambling. so 500 + random hundreds for food, entertaiment, and booze.

#8

I’m going to look forward to seeing many more Canadians at Evo than the last couple years.

#9

My brother and I will be going again. probably go a few days early to try and catch the finish of the WSOP.

#10

JS Master wants in!

#11

I really want to go, but I need to plan a shitload of shit with my job change, and moving.

But Hopefully I can get in on these rates.

#12

I may attend Evo, not 100% yet.

#13

#14

#15

Yo, is this Team Canada thing still going down and if so, are we all sharing a couple of rooms? Or are we just gonna book shit separately?

#16

So what games is everyone entering?

I’m probably gonna play MvC2 and maybe SF4 if I think I get good enough.

#17

Nagata: There’s a very high chance I’m going this year since I’m going to be debt free starting April, and so I’ll have enough time to save up. You still accepting people for EVO?

#18

I plan on coming as well. Probably going to play SF4 and HDR and then play the other ones just for fun.

#19

Yes i will be going nagata. lol working at the airport= me going haha…
GoTTA get practicing sf4… its too fun

#20

I’m seriously considering it this year. Too bad there’s no cvs2.

edit: Nagata it seems that booking now you would get $50/night for 2 people weekday and 85/night weekend. $30 for extra 1-2 people. Seems pretty cheap no?
