Unless needed, I won’t be discussing in these posts Spec Ops or the SP campaign. this will be mostly MP and here’s what we know now for MP:

The Killstreaks

Killstreaks are now changed and to be referred to as Pointstreaks. Furthermore Custom Classes can now have a streak assigned to each of them

Pointsreaks are split up (Strike Packages, as they are now called), into three flavors and are designed for three type of core play styles: assault, support, and specialist. Assault is what you remember Killstreaks to be, Support is designed to help aid your team, and Specialist is every Perk you can get without gaining other streaks. First, here’s the list of all the rewards you get for the three Strike Packages:


3 UAV (3 activated at the same time will upgrade to Advance UAV)
4 Care Package
5 I.M.S. (Intelligent Munitions System explodes in a cluster)
5 Predator Missile
5 Sentry Gun
6 Precision Airstrike
7 Attack Helicopter
9 Strafe Run (call 5 helicopters to strafe attack 2 times)
9 AH-6 Overwatch (call mini helicopter to hover above you and spot/attack enemies)
9 Reaper (pred missile system you can control with multiple missiles)
10 Assault Drone (Control a ground drone that looks like a mini tank equipped with an MK46 50 round LMG and single shot Rocket launcher)
12 AC130
12 Pave Low
15 Juggernaut (Gives the receiving player Juggernaut armor along with an M60E4 LMG and MP412 Magnum Revolver)
17 Osprey Gunner (be the gunner of a V-22 Osprey that drops care packages for teamamtes)

Note that like the old games, this is the basic attacking setup. Getting kills w/KS WIll count towards next KS like MW and MW2. Take not also that you don’t have to die to get your 3 streaks again, once you get your highest, points will restart and you can build for another streak.

18 EMP (can now cancel out ALL active killstreaks including Airstrikes and Stealth bombers)
18 Juggernaut Recon (Gives the receiving player Juggernaut armor along with a Riot Shield and USP45 Handgun plus will have a mobile motion sensor ability to detect enemies nearby)
18 Escort Airdrop (drops 5 care packages while CPU controlled V-22 Osprey defends airdrop

Take note that your streak doesn’t reset after getting killed with the Support Strike Package. meaning if you die with one point to go for your next streak you will still only need one more point to be able to get your next streak. no matter what, live or die you’ll always get streaks it seems. streaks in support will NOT help build towards next streak.


Choose 3 extra Perks which will unlock in order every 2 kills. 2 kills - 4 kills - 6 kills. Once you reach 8 kills without dying, you will gain every perk. Once you die, you lose every extra perk and must restart from 2 kills once again. Multiple attachment and multiple primary Perks may not be selected for the Specialist Package so be aware of this. Specialist strike package unlocked at Lvl 80

The Guns

Guns now each have a level of proficiency which you can think of as mini perks for each gun. to unlock the proficiencies, you must use the weapon and lvl up each gun. Max rank for all guns is said to be at 35. Simply ranking up guns will also unlock attachments and camos as opposed to headshots needed for camos.

Impact (Bullet penetration AKA FMJ/Deep Impact)
2 Attachments (AKA Bling/Warlord)
Focus (reduce flinching when hit like Hardened Pro from BO)
Breath (hold breath longer ARs only)
Stability (reduce sway)
Range (increased range for damage droppoff, SMGs, Shotguns only)
Rapid Fire (faster RoF SMGs, LMGs only)
Melee (faster melee, SMGs only)
Speed (faster movement w/ weapon equipped, like Lightweight, LMGs/Sniper Rifles only)
Damage (shells do more damage, Shotguns only)


Red Dot Sight (appears to have both MW1 and MW2 ver. possibly you can choose one or the other for your gun. Also you can pick your red dot reticle just like in BO. (though variety is more limited). The custom Red Dots are:

Hybrid Sight (the optic you can swap from Holo to ACOG , Rifles only)

Once again there will be a split for lethal and tactical equpiment but unlick BO which had 3 types there’s only going to be a 2 way split.

The Perks

Similar to the recent games, Perks have a reg bonus then can get upgraded (how each one is upgraded is unknown for now) to pro. Note that Danger Close/OMA/SP/Last Stand/Commando (all of our fave perks lol) are now gone or…modified (will explain below)

Recon (explosive dmg shows targets on mini map) Pro [Bullet dmg shows targets]
Sleight of Hand (faster reload) Pro [faster weapon swap]
Blind Eye (undetectable by Air support/Sentries) Pro [launchers lock on faster/extra bullet dmg to support/sentries]

Scavenger (pick up ammo from dead players, will NOT resupply Pro-Pipes) Pro [start with max ammo]

Perk 2:

Quickdraw (faster ADS) Pro [faster recovery from from equipment use/nade use]
Blast Shield (resistance to explosives) Pro [immune to stuns/flashbangs]
Hardline (one less kill for killstreak) Pro [2 assists count as one kill towards killstreak/1 less death needed for death streak]
Assassin (invisible to UAV/portable radar/thermal/HBS) Pro [immune to CUAV/EMP no red name/crosshair when targeted]
Overkill (2 Primaries however second primary won’t accept any attachments) Pro [allows the use of one attachment on the second primary or two if coupled with the attachments proficiency]

Like it or not, Guess what’s back? yep Deathstreaks return and new ones come in the form of old beloved perks!

Death Streak:

Juiced (faster sprinting for a short period of time) [4 deaths]
Revenge (See the position of the last enemy that killed you at all times until they die) [5 deaths]
Final Stand (Unknown unlock lvl 32) [4 deaths]
Martyrdom (drop a live grenade when killed unlock lvl 51) [4 deaths]
Dead Man’s Hand (C4 suicide bomber unlock lvl 57) [5 deaths]
Hollow Points (stopping power for one kill unlock lvl 71) [5 deaths]

The Prestige Shop

Every time a player prestiges now unlike the previous games, a player receives a prestige token which allows them to use it to unlock and choose one of the following:

Extra custom class - (once chosen, permanently unlocked, unconfirmed if this mean all 5 extra classes are unlocked at once)
Reset all stats - (will reset EVERYTHING back to lvl 1 no prestige)
Double XP - (temp bonus, Lasts 2 hours in game time, not real time, is stackable with other XP bonuses making it possible to earn x4 XP or more)
Double weapon XP - (temp bonus, LAsts 2 hours in game time, not real time, is stackable with other XP bonuses making it possible to earn x4 XP or more)
Unlock gear - (once gear is chosen, permanently unlocked for all future prestiges, will only carry gear/weapon/perk in the basic form no attachments, no pro perks etc)

Reg Package - (titles emblems 1 once chosen, permanently unlocked)
Hardened package - (titles emblems 2 once chosen, permanently unlocked)
veteran package - (titles emblems 3 once chosen, permanently unlocked)

only one token is given per prestige however bonus tokens are given out for prestiging in previous CoD games. (one extra token per game a player has prestiged in regardless of how many prestiges one earned) Unknown if there will be other ways to earn tokens.


**The Update **

TU1: Enabled Theater, Vault, Private Match options, Elite and Facebook functionality for Launch Day.

TU2: Fix for YouTube video upload on SD TVs. Matchmaking Improvements.

TU3: Theater Improvements (Fix to FF and RW in Theater), LAG improvements, Improvements to Hot Fix system.

TU4: Change to address hitching and lag in gameplay.

TU5: Further improvements for hitching and addressing lag in gameplay.

TU6: Additional improvements to address lag. Fix for Melee Jump. Clan Tag Validation (remove buttons from clan tags). Improve Host Migration logic. Prevent stat loss when player loses connection from server (Internet pull / drop).

TU7: Improvement to address “Host Disadvantage” / “Lag Compensation” that caused hosts with good connections to be hindered. Plus ability to hot fix additional tweaks based on user feedback to this change.

TU8: Networking enhancements, Theater improvements and fixes, Further improvements to “Host Disadvantage” / “Lag Comp”, Increased speed of YouTube uploads from 32k to 256k, Nerf to all Akimbo weapons (reduced fire rate), Shotgun re-balance (Slight nerf to Striker, slight buff to all other shotguns), Fix that prevents some users from not receiving their prestige token after prestiging, fix stat bug that retains “games played” stat across prestiges, removal of StealthnBomber radar visibility in Color Blind mode.

TU8: has been released on PS3 where it also includes improvements to voice chat.

TU9: 400 new ranks included in 5 new prestige levels. Also adds the ability to view Clan Rank on player card in-game when enlisted in a clan on Call of Duty: Elite. (This update is now available on Xbox Live and will be available on PSN on Feb 28th.)
Ability to select country flags as clan titles.
Additional network optimizations.
Additional ELITE push to game CaC validation.
Support for ELITE Clan Operations end future features.
Fixed PM issue where failed invites were preventing large parties from congregating.
Repair of writing of the games played field of the player stats so we can sweep LBs and correct averages on the backend.This process will commence shortly.

Assault drone is the same but when it snaps it Shoots iu

The funniest thing about deathstreaks is that at the CODXP keynote address, perhaps the biggest crowd cheer there came when they said there was no more Last Stand. Yet, there’s Final Stand (Last Stand with the possibility of getting up) and Dead Man’s Hand (which I heard was Last Stand, only the guy has C4 in his hand).

It’s like IW only fixes things on an incidental basis, without taking even a minute to understand why that stuff is so hated. Example: People hated martyrdom in COD4, so IW took it out. As a perk. The lesson they didn’t learn was you don’t reward people for dying in a game where you have to stack kills to be an asset to your team. So in MW2, they had Deathstreaks, which were even bigger rewards for dying. Martyrdom was there.

i dont mind death streaks. imo it compensates for people that are not hardcore fans and dont play the game for hours on end.


You don’t have to play the game for hours on end to NOT die 4-6 times in a row. You just have to be decent. You might occasionally invoke a deathstreak like that if you are totally outclassed and/or getting spawn trapped, but that doesn’t happen often. If you’re working on a legit killstreak, that streak should have 0 possibility of going away because the game let some dumbass who died 5 times in a row have some special ability you have no clue of until you try and shoot them down.

Off/On-topic, it’s been made official on Bowling’s Twitter: The big change to meleeing is a reduced default lunge and no commando. Panic knifing? Still there.


A killstreak shouldn’t have 0 possibility going away. You could die buy getting outsmarted and shot. But we can’t do nothing about it. It’s in the game.


Some people I talked to don’t like the whole capture the kill thing. I think it’s kool though but if I kill someone and his/her dogtag pop up and and run to get it and die…I’ll bitch.Overall though I like what im seeing and I really like Infinity Ward way better than bullshit Treyarch.

If you mean switch between killstreaks that we’ve earned in-game, it seems we can:
In the last bit of the Spec Ops trailer, when the dude already had a Predator Missle and then got Juggernaut, there were up/down arrows on the Juggs Icon.

I didn’t say a killstreak should have 0 possibility of going away period. I said it shouldn’t go away over some BS special ability I couldn’t reasonably anticipate my target having before shooting at them. That’s not me being outsmarted. That’s the game throwing them a pity bone.


I’m a little confused on the death streaks. Did someone ask for it to come back??? As there not enough crutches for bad players…


It’s going to happen, so get used to it now. Truthfully though there’s a certain strategy to this. You can camp/claymore/C4 the tags. Have 1 or two guys that are using support+SMG+extreme conditioning who are “runners” whose job it is to pick up tags.

game looks really fun (maybe its the music :smiley: ) … Hope Veteran isn’t a fuckin stupid in this one :confused: (unlimited respawns n such)
