Booting from CD, I keep getting the blue screen. I can’t figure out what’s wrong. Nothing is wrong with the Hard Drive or the disk (actually a legit disk).
Define “getting a blue screen”. This is actually normal for some XP install discs (the older ones, specifically). How long did you wait for it to load?
Also, have you checked to see if he disc works on another PC/Laptop?
Yep, check for scratches and then check it on another PC. It may also be a hardware issue. I used to get these on occasion when customizing my XP discs with nLite, but that wouldn’t be the problem if it’s a retail disc.
How old is this laptop?
If it’s new you probably have to change the HHD controller in the bios from AHCI to IDE.
Check the cmos to see what the sata operation is. Make sure it says ata instead of ahci.
