VIOLENT Fighting To Come Again! (in Charlotte, NC)

As the year flew-by from the excitement, we now declare the opening of special fighting game tournament…again in 2007!
Brought to you by Gamefrog Cafe. Let’s pack this place and show them what our community is all about!

WHERE: Gamefrog Cafe at Carolina Place Mall
http://www.gamefrogcafe.com/
11025 Carolina Place Parkway
Pineville, North Carolina 28134

WHEN: Saturday, May 5 2007.
REGISTRATION begins at 10 AM.
The tournament WILL promptly begin at 12 NOON.
Carolina Place Mall has dictated that all tournaments MUST be packed up at 9:45 PM. This is not my rule, nor Gamefrog’s, but straight from mall management themselves. Therefore, to ensure that all tournaments will end before the alotted time, we will begin at EXACTLY 12 NOON. If you do NOT register before 11:45 AM, we can NOT guarantee you a spot in the tournaments you wish to enter.
If any tournaments are NOT concluded by 9:45 PM on Saturday May 5, then they will roll over to Sunday May 6 and resume promptly at 12 NOON. Any tournament participants on that Sunday will be charged the standard Gamefrog rate of $7 per hour per station.

ENTRY FEE: $10
(All entry fees are seperate from the tournament pots and going directly to Gamefrog. With your entry fee, you will recieve a wristband to show proof of your payment. Without your wristband you will NOT be allowed to play)

POTS for all single major and minor tournament games are going: 1st-70%, 2nd-20%, 3rd-10%
For the Guilty Gear Slash Team Tournament, the entire pot will be split 3 ways amongst the winning team.

MAJORS ($10):

Vampire Savior (Japanese PS2)

ALL single Majors and Minors are DOUBLE elimination tournaments.
The Guilty Gear Team Tournament is Round Robin (Each team playing each other ONCE)
The free side Vampire Savior tourney (if time permits it being held) will be a SINGLE elimination tournament restricted to the first 16 entrants (you MUST have paid your entry fee to play in the tournament).

Standard EVO tourney rules apply with a FEW exceptions
http://www.evo2k.com/playerGuide/gamerules.php

As mentioned before, we MUST stress the need to start the tournaments and matches on time.
If you leave for any extended amount of time, no matter the reason, either tell ME or the delegates who are running the brackets for your game WHERE you are going and for HOW LONG.
For the purposes of a speedy tournament, anyone who has not made themselves present after the first round of their brackets WILL be given a loss and put into losers.
For the first round of the Losers bracket, if you cannot be found within a reasonable amount of time nor have you notified any tournament delegates of your whereabouts then you will be disqualified and given your second loss and be OUT.
NO REFUNDS neither tournament pots nor entry fees WILL BE GIVEN OUT FOR DISQUALIFICATIONS.

GENERAL GAME RULES
–You are responsible for your OWN controller. In the first rounds, if you cannot find a stick/pad within a reasonable amount of time at the end of the round you will be given a loss.
–We will have DC and PS3 convertors for you in MvC2 and T5DR. For time purposes, and for the security of those who donate convertors, the convertors are to remain IN the systems at ALL times.
–If you accidently pause the game or your controller otherwise malfunctions in the first 5 seconds of the game AND your opponent has no significant advantage then you can replay that game. Otherwise, your opponent must consent to let the match continue if you pause in the middle of a match or else you lose that game.
–Macros, turbo buttons, other tool-assists, and wireless controllers are BANNED

(Button placement)

For CvS2, 3rd Strike, Super Turbo, and Vampire Savior you are allowed only the 6 standard: Light, Medium, and Heavy Punch and Kick buttons.

For MvC2 you are allowed only the 4 Light and Heavy Punch and Kick buttons plus the 2 assist buttons.

For KOF and NGBC you are allowed: A(LP), B(LK), C(HP), D(HK), E(BO/Tag) and Taunt

For GG Slash you are allowed: Punch, Kick, Slash, Heavy Slash, Dust, and Respect.

Shouldering buttons IS allowed in Tekken due to its traditional acceptance in the 3D community.

#8

Well, this had fell off the first page…may as well post.

I just hope the TV/lag issues are resolved and everybody’s happy.

Will sign up foooor Slash, NGBC, XI, HnK and VS :open_mouth: …maybe ST even, but that’d be too much. How about we make Slash random teams or something? We’ll be pretty hyped about Accent Core by then and throwing in something like that might spice things up.

#9

Shiki please go test the tvs with some 3rd Strike and Chun-li parrying…

#10

Hey theres a good chance I might make this…I’m wondering what would be my better bet and need you guys to help me decide-

Showdown Championships or this?

Or both??

You guys tell me I know for sure I will have money for one certainly and probably both.

#11

Yeah, what he said. I’m done playin on laggy TVs. Get some concrete info on that and I’ll prolly be able to make it.

#12

Also Shiki whats up man?

Is there a way I’d be able to run some more SNK tournies on the side??? :lovin: (Like Friday or something so it wont conflict)

Im having the debate in my At the Eye of the Ragin Storm thread-Houston or North Carolina???

Thats the debate Im having right now and I need you guys to help me figure it out.

#13

DG, check the Raging Storm thread.

Roski/Brent, yep I hope to resolve by the end of this week.

Matt, you’re right and I owe it to everyone to make sure everyone knows the format before coming out. I want everyone to have concrete info so they can make the best decision for themselves to come or not.

#15

Cinco De Mayo? Well, we know there will be some celebrating afterwards. Put me down for:

CvS 2
KoF XI

Do we need to bring some monitors for this deal?

#16

Maybe…I’ll keep everyone posted…

#17

I do have a small ~19’’ I can bring…hasn’t been tested, RF only. You gotta make sure they’ll let us bring TVs, because there is no way to completely eliminate this lag. If there ends up being a huge issue, I could always try to organize some hotel tourney.

Shiki, I’m actually running/walking in a breast cancer marathon earlier this same day. It starts at 8am, and I should definitely be finished by about 12, so I may not make it to Charlotte until 2 or so. If there is any way you could look out for me I would appreciate it. I can call when I am on my way. If I have to start in losers so be it.

Alex Roski - Cajunstrike - 3rd Strike, CVS2, Slash, NGBC, KOFXI, HNK, ST, Vampire.

I’ll make a deal with the Marvel people: I’ll enter as long as someone already playing Marvel enters two of the following - NGBC, KOFXI, HNK, and Vampire OR if two Marvel players each enter any of those. This excludes Ali. :bgrin:

#18

Lukus Allen
Dark Geese
Denton, Tx
3s, NGBC, KOFXI,T5DR

I’ll bring my PS3 for the tourney w/T5DR!!!

Triad bring the VCR (Ill bring the tapes) so we can record some of this KOFXI and NGBC footage even if its just us four playing against each other lol…

#19

I’ll take you up on this roski, we need more marvel love, I haven’t ever touch those games but I’ll take one for the team lolzz:rofl:
