What are the most valuable software titles installed on your system?

I wanted to see what software people here cannot live without.

For me, I would say

  1. Firefox
  2. Microsoft Office 2007
  3. VLC Player
  4. WinRAR
  5. Nero Expression
  6. Adobe Reader

Isn’t photoshops retail like the price of raising a child for 5 years or something?

That’s valuable, although in a different way than you were looking for.

I concur on the firefox spot though.

Windows

Cubase

Bit Torrent.

logic pro

winamp

  1. Firefox
  2. Media Player Classic
  3. Foobar2000
  4. uTorrent
  5. Pidjin (AIM)
  1. utorrent
  2. winamp
  3. firefox
  4. thunderbird
  5. aim
  6. office 2003

Linux (OpenSuSE).

Without it, most of my work would be immeasureably more difficult to do.

Also, compilers like GCC and Javac, without which I would not be able to try out new ideas in my spare time

  1. firefox
  2. utorrent
  3. media player classic
  4. office 2003 (hate that 2007, so dam confusing)
  5. winamp
  6. meebo (aim,msn,gtalk,yahoo)

  3. Outlook Express

Logic Pro, Photoshop and 3DS Max

I was happy to see this wasn’t a pirated software bragging thread. I knew a guy in college who got busted and all he could do was brag about how much it was all worth (dumb, dumb, dumb). Anyhow, I think the only commercial app I’m stuck with is Nero. I’ve yet to find a suitable free replacement:

Firefox
Foobar2000
VLC
7-Zip
RealVNC
Paint.NET
Nero
Orbit Download Manager (No torrent)

Java6

That is all. Everything else is replaceable. I need Java for school and work.

  1. Google Chrome

That is all.

  • OS/2 Warp and Dos 6.22 (dual boot baby)
  • Lotus 1-2-3
  • Harvard Graphics 2.10
  • Sopwith
  • Monkey Island

I’m dead serious about at least one of these.

Gametap
Firefox

Photoshop
Fraps - for benchmarking and video recording.
Cyberlink PowerDVD
AVG
Irfranview
Auslogics disk defrag
K-logic codec pack
