i just had a match against my very first adon. he played pretty…cheap, im not really fond of that term, but i learned a bit from the match:

non ex jaguar kick(groundet) loses to gohadoken and f.HP on point blank range. with point blank i mean the animation of his kick already touching oni before the firball lands. its very close on reaction though, i usually did it when i say him crouching as a sign for a JK.

jaguar tooth H is punishable on reaction with H DP and if they want to bait you out with M jaguar tooth, EX DP still hits them (with you at the same spot), since EX DP seems to have an extended hitbox.

t. hawk - nj.mp stuffs his condor dive every time.
e. honda - nj.mp stuffs headbutt. if he flies underneath you then punish with f+hp.
yun/yang - b+mp is the most consistent and easiest dive kick counter i’ve found yet. it works much better than s.hp.

and i noticed under the m. bison section you wrote to retaliate with s.lk or b+mk after a blocked scissor kick, but i’m pretty sure you meant b+mp instead of b+mk.

You have to do it early before you know that it will be a divekick. So it’s great at stuffing dives but bad if they go for a standard jump-in.

After 2 days of laggy games, i manage to get some info.

On Yun:

wake-up lp.srk gets beat by palm. You need to use hp or ex.srk. i’m not sure about mp.srk. if it has some invincibility frames then it should work.

jab is ur best friend against Yun. Quick enough to stop divekicks and non-ex lunge punches and safe enough to abuse.

it took me a while to notice that all the poke normals are not that effective against yun, mostly because they were too slow and/or had too much recovery(especially f.hp) So, some Yun’s will intentionally jump around from mid screen and further to bait then out and then land on you with his dive kick.

Anyway, don’t let yun’s get close to you.

And online-yun will beat you. Not because he’s broken or anything, but because reactionary inputs get lagged into uselessness in online play.

On Blanka:

throw out random crouching jabs to stop blanka balls and then watch out for slides. lol I had a 3780 PP gouken in super and i had no fucken idea that i could’ve use jabs to stop blanka balls, i would just block and take chip damage.

On Dhalsim:

Get a knockdown and rush him down. Don’t forget that he will teleport when he gets pressured or when near the corner.

lp.srk will usually beat his yoga sniper and is somewhat safe if done while sim is in the air… cause he will probably still be in the air by the time you land from the srk.

Ex.SRK will trade on the second hit with sim’s ultra 1 when done from up-close. Oni’s body faces the screen on the second hit of the SRK and will collide with sim’s ultra1. If you wanna do something, do ex.stomp to avoid the ultra and get some damage.

On Ken:

As a gouken user i gave up on the ken match up and i wouldn’t take it seriously, but as an Oni user, it’s a lot more manageable.

Zone him the fuck out and wait for jump-ins. Oni’s long range game is better and it will eventually force ken into risking a jump-in. Just don’t press buttons and throw random fireballs, play a defensive and cautious zoning game while always waiting to AA a jump-in attempt.

On the ground: use a fireball(not fireballs or e-fireball - throw more than a few and you’ll eat a jump-in combo) to stop his f.mk pressure and add in a few f.hp to keep him blocking. Always pause to wait for a jump-in attempts. If ken manages to get somewhat close, back off and get some space in between the two of you and jump air-dash if you’re cornered.

Be aware of air-EX.tatsu if you’re trying to air-to-air his jump.
Be aware that lk.stomp will NOT cross up his ultra1 and you will land on it for full damage.

On Fei:

This is one of the toughest matches that Oni has, but it is winnable.

You need space, lots of space, between you and Fei. Blocked f.hp can be recca’ed, hit him with the very tip of the attack and be careful not to abuse.

Fei’s that get annoyed with the f.hp will tend to FA it. So, have an ex-fireball ready or load up a 2 hit e-fireball. NO charged fireballs, or you will eat a jump-in combo or chicken wing. Add in a f.mk block string to ur pressure if Fei is expecting to block and punish your f.hp.

lk.stomp will cross-up his wake-up flamekick (EX.flamekick tends to hit - needs more testing)

1-2 blocked recca’s are safe for fei. 3 and you can punished him.

A side note to ken:
im not sure how common it is for kens to get at you with air tatsu, but st.HP beats it clean, just as almost any other jump in.

Yun:

As i mentioned before. Abuse your jabs in this match. After some online testing. Crouching jab works well against grounded yuns, but once they start to catch on to those crouching jabs they will try to delay the divekick or will even try to land on your head behind the jab’s hit box. So, use preemptive standing jabs if you feel like a high divekick is coming.

Guy:

lk.stomp hits guy’s wake-up tatsu(tatsu? spinkicks?), but will lose or sometimes trade to the EX version.

And maybe someone can test this, but i noticed that lk.stomp will sometimes go through his wake-up EX.tatsu giving you a chance to punish him.

lk and ex.stomp will stop his wake-up ultra1 when done right next to him.

Guile:

lk.stomp tends to either trade or cross-up guile’s wake-up non-EX flashkick. the stomp will lose to the EX version and will not trade and if it does i haven’t seen it happen.****

His sonicbooms won’t let him build much meter. So, play a very defensive zoning game. Stop his 1-hit sonicbooms with a simple fireball and let him use meter on ex-booms, because without that meter he can’t ex.flashkick or FADC the flashkick on his wake-up. Don’t worry about chip damage from a barrage of ex.booms, because the match will favor whoever has the most meter.

f.hp to stop any attempt at forward moment. f.mk blockstrings to pressure with stomps thrown in.

Be ready for jump-ins and block his close range pressure and then get some space in between the two of you. Vortex his wake-up if he’s low on meter.

In simple terms, zone him, get a life lead, get away, and let him risk getting in.** Play lame.

lets see…

El Fuerte:

lk.stomp will cross up his wake-up ultra2 and non-EX rising leg grab. You can ultra1 his whiffed U2 and possibly ultra2 if you can get near him.

Challenge his off the wall attacks with your j.rh or nj.rh. The range of that normal comes in handy when dealing with jumpy elf’s. jump fierce should also work, but i like to avoid any chance of trades. He has an air-throw. So, stay grounded, watch for normal jumps, and AA his obvious attempt at being smart.

Pressure him and mix him up on his wake-up and watch out for the Ex.rising leg grab move if you’re going for stomps.

He can’t win the ground game against Oni. So zone him out and watch out for jumps and running grabs. That doesn’t mean you should stay grounded though. Jump almost as much as he does otherwise he might sneak in a running slam. The match is in favor of Elf whenever he gets a knockdown.

If Elf’s start getting cautious about jumps, zone and pause for elf’s run-attacks and punish.

On wake-up:

Avoid wake-up SRK trades against his slams and slides by using hp or EX.srk
Back-dash his running jump grabs.
Check him with an ex.fireball if he waits(usually out of SRK range) to see what you do as you get up.

Use hit and run tactics, and mix him up if you get a knockdown.
